Are swimming hats easy

Just enrolled son in swimming lessons. They have to wear swimming hats for the lesson. My son is going to hate this!!! I've never wore one myself. If I want him to do these classes I've basically got 1xhance to apply this swimming hat correctly . How do I do it??

Wee bit talc in the cap, get him to put his head forward and hold onto the front on his head, you take the back and stretch it over. Will take a bit practise but you should get the hang of it no problem x

Wet the hat first.

You can get much better made ones now that aren't the scary plastic type.

My son wears one that is made out of fabric, he has long hair and it helps keep it out of his eyes. I bought it from the leisure centre so ask at yours and they will probably able to accommodate.

Thanks , I'm more worried about the hat then the lesson x

I had to wear one for something recently and honestly you can get ones now what are so much easier to put on than the old rubber style ones.

Get him to hook his thumbs into the front of the hat and place them on his forehead.
You pull up and back and it's on.
Also recommend the fabric ones - same sort of material as swimming cossie (girls)

get a polyester one they are soft and stretchy and much easier to put on.

We don't get to choose the hats they are provided and colour coordinated for which set they are in . Il dig out the talc tho . Might get to use the mountains of bottles we see to have acquired x

Heat it up under the hand drier too, it makes it stretchier! And try to remember to dry it with talc after swimming otherwise they stick together and take ages to unstick!

The primary school near us walk to their swimming lessons with hats already on - presumably because it's a complete pain. They look very funny sweet, though, in their rubber be-hatted crocodile.
