Hello!
I am looking for friends for my son to play minecraft with online on the PS3.
As far as I can figure out (and I am not experienced in this department) I/he can only play online with people on my 'friends' list.
I have no PS3 friends?

So how do I get some? Would anyone else's kids like to become my / his friend?

I have tried searching this online but am still a bit stumped.
Any help would be hugely appreciated,
Thanks, :-) Helen

I'll assume you're not a hairy handed trucker called Dave before we start Grin

My kids play Minecraft online with their school friends on Xbox. Your DS can give your PS3 name to his friends, who can friend you. I don't know if Xbox users can friend PS3 users, I guess probably not, but my kids each have their own username on the Xbox, so they can have separate Minecraft worlds (or whatever they're called). Maybe you can setup separate profiles on PS3 so your DS doesn't need to use your username.

Does he not know anyone who plays who could join in with him? They don't have to be 'your' friends.

Um, this doesn't seem to be the safest way for you or your son to engage online...

Hi and thanks,
I have found a PS forum now where there are lots of parents looking for the same as I am. There are specific groups just for kids, no adults allowed. There are hundreds of parents, with minecraft fan children, looking for other kids for them to be creative with.

To anyone who is wondering about the safety. I can assure you that it is safe and all his 'friends' are monitored and verified. I am aware of who he talks to and what they are doing. It's quite easy to tell the difference between a 46 year old bloke and a 7 year old boy. They talk to each other openly and you can hear all the conversation. So I am not concerned.

Rather than being over protective and controlling, I allow my children to become independent and self governing, to a standard that suits they're age and intellect. So please don't judge me by thinking I am letting the kids have open access to the online gaming world. That really isn't the case. I believe it is better to learn how to be street savy, gently and sensibly, than have your world fall apart through bullying or violence, when you hit the real world.
