17 mths old & shrieking/screaming

I'm hoping that one of you might be able to offer some advice or reassurance.
My dd is generally a v happy child but she does have a stubborn/determined/wilful nature (v much like me!)
She spends 4 days week with her childminder & the rest of her time with me. She's v well behaved generally with the childminder & plays well with the other children.
She has recently started shrieking & screaming in a v v high pitched fashion when with dh or myself - typically if she's in her buggy and someone looks at her or if one of us comes home from work.
We've tried saying "shhh", or "too noisy" or "too loud" but nothing seems to work. Our second child is due mid-Nov and I'm aware that dd1's world will be turned upside down.
Just wondered if anyone could offer any words of wisdom.....

Is she actually making a 'distressed' scream or just a big noise?

DD 20 months does this! We try to distract her with a toy or by singing her favourite song. It's just a phase. Like me, my DD likes the sound of her own voice! x

Hi, my DD went through this phase for a while, she's now 20mths and seems to be stopping, at least its much less frequent. Ignore, or distract, there's not a lot else you can do! having said that she's replaced it by lying on the floor kicking her feet when she;s feeling contrary....not sure its an improvement.

Phew - so it's perfectly normal then! I'll have to increase my repertoire of songs! Thank you

Ignore her, she won't do it if she hasn't an audience!
