Help! Present ideas from my little boy to my wife!

Hello. We have a gorgeous little 2 yr old adopted son and it's my wife's birthday tomorrow. I want to get a special present from him to her that a) isn't a photo b) isn't something sensible / practical. I've it other things for her but none of them seem special or different enough to come from him. Any ideas?

erm...if it's tomorrow it's really tricky isn't it?

what shops can you get to? what sort of money can you spend?

NorbertDentressangle · 23/02/2015 14:41

Can you get to a pottery painting place with him so he can do a hand-print/painted plate or something similar?

A 'mum' necklace/cup/photo frame?? I treasure anything if it has. 'Mum' on it!

Fingerprint/ handprint jewellery no time for tomorrow but could do for Mother's Day

Thanks for suggestions so far! It doesn't necessarily have to be personalised...

budget??? what shops can you get to??

no point me saying 'get this and this' when it's more than you want to spend or only available from a shop you can't get to!!

My husband bought me a potted shrub of a flower I really love, from my small daughter for Mother's day when she was 1. Its in flower now and it makes me happy every year. If she likes roses then David Austin send out potted roses all year that you can plant out, they have lovely old school scented ones, not ugly floristy things.

Thanks! Around £20 but more if needed. Most chains accessible from here.

Not my cup of tea personally but I know those Willow Tree figurines are popular. You could get one of a mother and child if your DW likes that sort of thing.

OR...and i am only saying this because it's something i would like...

how about making her a mix cd of special/significant songs?

If it were me, I'd love a handmade card with glitter and handprints and bits of pasta falling off, and a bunch of flowers that he choose - even if they were from a garage.

The thought of DH spending time with DS to make a card for me would be priceless.

Dangermouse1 · 23/02/2015 15:17

I was bought this book 'by' DS and even though it's blatantly for him I thought it was a fantastic present and we read it together lots

Definitely a handmade card, with handprints. Loads of ideas online about making the handprint into an animal.
Also a book they can share together, DH got me My Mum by Anthony Brown from my DC once. I love it.

Notso · 23/02/2015 15:24

Also maybe get your DS to choose something small. My DD at 2 insisted we bought my Mum an elvis dashboard ornament for her Birthday. She was so excited to help me wrap it and give it to her Grandma. 12 years later it's still proudly in Mums car.

Spa/ massage voucher. It's a no-brainer!

KatyN · 23/02/2015 17:28

He might be able to thread penne pasta onto string and make her a necklace
