Best sling for a newborn / little baby

Hi
Expecting number 2 and looking to get a soft sling to carry her around the house in / out and about. It has to be good as I also have a toddler and will be relying on it. I already have a moby wrap from DC1 and thought it was crap. LOADS of material and really hard to tie. My favourite sling for an older baby is our Ergo which I love, but I want to get a soft, structured carrier for the new baby. I've been looking at a caboo closer. Has anyone tried this? Any other advice? Thanks!

NCT caboo or regular caboo is easy and stretchy.
At about 3 months I got a connecta - very easy but buckles and only for 7 1/2 lb up so maybe not a less than 1 month old.

Ooh yes just looked up NCT caboo it looks good. No complicated tying technique? I can't do them!

This Kari-Me is what I used when DD was a newborn and it's what I still use now she's almost 2. It was handed on to me after two other babies had used it and the little one I'm carrying now will be baby number 4 to ride this sling.

I googled the NCT caboo recommended above and it looks the same/similar; ie. just a wrap around you can change to suit.

There's one knot really - very simple!

I didn't like the caboo. Big long tails of fabric and slowly slid loose. But I like the moby so...

PannaDoll · 23/02/2015 16:12

The Kari-Me has lyrca in it so it doesn't slip and the tails are wrapped round the body so not much 'dangly bits' left over.

I totally depend on the NCT Cabboo sling. My lo is now 13 weeks and he has napped in it, on me, twice daily since he was a newborn. Godsend!

It does slide looser a bit, gradually so i tighten it up now and then.

The two loose ends I tie behind me.

Mei tai style has been/is the best for us. We have a BabyHawk which we picked up while living in the US but I believe that there are lots of good UK brands. Of all the slings I have (and we have many) it is the only one that I found to work with a

Amawrap has been a godsend with this one! We both love it.

The Marsupi. I've been wearing my five week old in it since week two, he's far too comfortable in it, I find it easy to wear. I have a stretch sling too, but didn't like it.

Ah everyone's got a different one! I am finding this all very useful and will be able to buy one of these today based on your recommendations, so thank you all a lot.

Before you buy, have you got a local sling library (google 'sling library' and your town / area)? Because they have tons of different slings you can borrow for a couple of weeks, so you can work out what suits you without having to buy anything straight away.

They are usually run by very lovely and helpful ladies who will be delighted to discuss what might be best for you, too.

I had a Sa-Be Stretchy til DS got heavier. Now have a Sa-Be Mei Tei - He's 6m but went in it from being approx 12w x
