DD is 1 next Monday, oh how the time flies Smile I'm just wondering what did you get your children for their 1st Birthday
She already has an extraordinary amount of toys, books and (shoot me down now) pre school dvds.
She already has a bank account in which money is paid into monthly, and i cant ser what else I could get for her.
I've already bought a personalised jewellery box for her to appreciate when she is older (my dm got one for me and I love it).

Help?? Smile

To be honest, she will not know if you don't get her anything. She also will not have the capacity to judge the size or value of anything you get.
However, good toys might be: duplo, trolley with bricks, dolls pram, teaset.

my ds's favourite first birthday present was a £1 ball that flashes when you thrown it from ebay. buy her a few cheap.fun things like that!! a slinky? a few plastic animals?

feetheart · 23/02/2015 12:38

We bought DD a lovely, simple gold charm bracelet for her 1st birthday and we buy her a new charm most birthdays when we remember :) She was 12 yesterday (and I still need to get her a charm Blush) and loves it. Each charm has a story attached e.g. the first one we got was a bird as that was the first word she signed, last year's was a little drop opal from a broach DH got made into a necklace for my 50th)

We got our DD a princess castle tent for inside. She plays in it every day and we chuck her toys in when she goes to bed to keep the house tidy. It was about £12 from Ebay and there are a few different designs. I can see her enjoying it for a good couple more years.

Watching with interest as I have the same problem, made even worse by the fact that dd has elder siblings.

If you haven't got an indoor tent OP and have the space to keep it up, buy one of those. Like achoo ours has been used every day - dd has loved going in there ever since she began crawling and would play peepo all the time if she could!

Bigbadgeorge · 23/02/2015 13:03

Indoor tent vote from here too....

BattlingOnAgain · 23/02/2015 13:06

That's a brilliant idea with the indoor tent and charm bracelet. Dd is obsessed with dinosaurs at the moment Hmm so have got her a couple of plastic ones. Also found that the little people play sets are good for her age but can not justifying spending on something which she ultimately destroy (in three months, have had four of the singing buses).

Has anyone had the smart trike before? Was thinking about getting one of them for in a couple of months time when the weather is better, did your child/children use them? Smile

We got ours a silver expanding bracelet. She got enough toys from other people and I wanted something she could keep.

BattlingOnAgain · 23/02/2015 13:09

We got her a silver expanding bracelet for her christening, which she wears everyday.
Might start a debate here but which company would you choose to get a charm bracelet for, Pandora or chamille or someone else

We've also got a smart trike and it's a hit with DD. It makes a change from wrestling her into the pushchair and I can see it being used for a couple more years as it adapts as she grows.

geekymommy · 23/02/2015 15:54

Maybe a toy she can use when she starts walking? This will probably happen soon. My DD was never really that interested in using her walker toy as a walker, though.

If she's not standing on her own yet, maybe a toy that takes two hands to manipulate? The desire to play with a two-handed toy while standing seemed to be what motivated my DD to stand on her own (at about 11 months, but this will vary from child to child).

Pico2 · 23/02/2015 15:59

If you have space - a little tikes car, though they are a pain to put together. Otherwise a baby doll and buggy if she doesn't have one.

BackforGood · 23/02/2015 16:02

If she's got everything (and will no doubt get more from relations when it is her birthday), then put some money in her account ready for her driving lessons / first car insurance - she'll really appreciate that at 17/18, but won't have a clue at 1 if you 'gave' her anything physical or not.

BattlingOnAgain · 23/02/2015 16:29

DD already has three walkers Blush and dollies and prams. The little trikes car is a good idea, didn't think of stuff for the garden Smile

The one we got DD was a simple link charm bracelet not Pandora or anything like that. Bit like this but much finer and cheaper :)
