Big style crying at 5 weeks

Wondered what others' experience of this is? I know they peak at 6 weeks supposedly . My LO is suddenly crying loads more since turning 5 weeks. It sometimes starts with an obvious cause - wind & pooing are more bothersome to him since he had a tummy bug 11 days ago (seen GP & he's ok), but then it can go on for ages, though he will be consoled for short periods by being held while walking up & down, going in sling, vibrating chair, playmat etc. but then crying quickly starts up again. Finding it quite tough going & feel sorry for little guy!

Hi,
Im afraid i haven't any solid advice or experience for you, my girl is turning 5 weeks on Saturday, but it may be related to a growth spurt? There is a big one at 5-6 weeks.

My little one also has terrible gas problems and spends a lot of time writhing and screaming. Have you tried some massage techniques?

The other thing that makes her scream blue murder is being overtired, but she's fighting her daytime naps which is a pain. I read once that at this age they shouldnt be awake for more than a 2 hour stretch, which means winding down after 1.5hrs. I thought it was a bit dramatic but i can totally see this pattern of tiredness in her.

I hope that helps, and if not you have my sympathies! x

My DD was 5 weeks yesterday and it's as if a switch has gone off. Yesterday she barely slept and last night from 6ish she had regular and lengthy crying fits.

She eventually went to sleep around midnight so I'm pretty shattered!

Have you tried colief drops?

Found them incredible for my dd who is now 9 weeks.

My now 9 week old ds did a similar thing around that time - the main problem I think was colic. Having never had a colicky baby before I was a bit stumped as to what to do but actually he has come through it and is a lot less windy now. It lasted about two weeks. Colief and gripe water didn't make any difference in our case but I guess you could try it. Hopefully you will find that around 8 weeks things usually get a bit calmer again. Have you had a look at the 'wonder weeks' app? It has some good explanations as to the phases that babies go through and is quite reassuring.
