washing a babies clothes

just wondered how you all wash babies clothes. with DD I washed hers on a 'baby cycle' that my machine does, it's hypoallergenic apparently, but used whatever I used for our clothes. I've never as a.rule stuck to the same brand powder or softener etc and have never used fairy or dettol or anything either. I don't know why but I'm nervous about doing that this time. I just went with the flow with DD but I'm questioning everything this time around.

I just wash the baby clothes in with our stuff using tesco own brand non bio.

sleepyhead · 29/01/2015 18:27

With ds1 I washed his clothes separately with non bio Fairy.

With ds2 I just put everything in with ours and used the normal bio. Was fine.

Obviously if his skin had reacted then I'd have switched to nonbio or extra rinses.

RavioliOnToast · 29/01/2015 18:29

Well we've all got separate washing baskets cause most of DD1s clothes are pink/red so I just shove everything in together, then wash mine and hubby's together and was going to wash DD2s stuff all together. do you think the non bio makes a difference? or do you know what happens if normal (bold in our case) can be used?

I only used non bio for a couple of weeks and then switched to bio with no issues

Hedgehogging · 29/01/2015 18:36

I use bio. Went with non-bio in the very early weeks because the marketing for Fairy made me feel so damn nervous. DD's things get chucked in with ours now.

redcaryellowcar · 29/01/2015 18:41

I wash both ds1&2s clothes together in surcare non bio it's a habit I formed as ds1 was born early and was told good for new born skin, he then developed eczema, so gentle washing liquid best, I also used to do extra rinses, but less so now, unless I've put a bit too much easing liquid in!

WiggleGinger · 29/01/2015 20:33

I Wash the baby clothes in tesco own non bio & tesvo own pure softner on a 30 degree wash. I was his clothes separately mostly but occasionally pop other whites in with them.
Dd's clothes get washed on their own too as they are mostly all pink.

Katekoom · 29/01/2015 22:35

I use a combo of persil non bio and napisan (for stains) I also use conditioner. 60 degrees with a sensitive care extra rinse cycle

TheGirlAtTheRockShow · 30/01/2015 09:28

I've always used non bio anyway, DDs clothes go in with ours! Only thing to be washed separately is her nappies!

catg83 · 30/01/2015 09:39

Asda own non bio and asda own sensitive fabric conditioner. They only go in a 15 min refresh wash at 30 unless they have poop all over them. Grin Nappies wash same detergent at 60.

goldeline · 30/01/2015 16:29

We use fairy non bio for everything, and I chuck DS's stuff in with ours. I don't even separate whites because I don't see the point - I've never had colours run.

PostcardsFromAbovetheChemist · 31/01/2015 22:58

Goldeline lucky you! I've just turned some of DDs socks pink from washing them with a new pair of purple dungarees.

I wash all her stuff in Persil non-bio, and then spoil the hypoallergenic-ness by bunging soda crystals laundry stuff in if it is a particularly manky load. She gets her own load as she is a little princess and I don't want baby poo floating around with my clothes in the wash thanks you

(I do scrape the poo off before washing. And she does wear nappies, although sometimes you'd be forgiven for thinking she doesn't Grin )

mousmous · 31/01/2015 23:01

just wash with whatever you usually use. it's fine.
bio powder works best for poo/food stains.

squizita · 01/02/2015 10:48

I use normal non bio tabs plus oxy sensitive if it's grubby. I have an economic 40 wash that is meant to wash like 60 for half the energy so I use that.
I do now tumble dry more as it makes them soft and warm!

squizita · 01/02/2015 10:49

Oh and I wash everything together unless poo has happened in a big way...
