What changing bag do you have?

I have a yummy mummy one but I would like a bigger one.
I'm already struggling to fit everything in & that's with BF so I will really need a bigger bag for when weaning / on solids.

I love the black iCandy Emelia in black leather but it seems sold out everywhere - just as well at that price!

I would like one in that black leather handbag style though. Any recommendations?

Swear by my Cath Kidston one! Fit everything in there!

I do what bonzo says - just transparent wash bags, one for nappy kit and one for bottle kit. Then bung both into normal handbag. No need to carry the kitchen sink around!

I love the cath change bags but felt them expensive for their size
So I bought a normal cath kidston shoulder bag & a jojo change mat (£40 total) and I can fit loads in plus there's room to spare!
Might be worth investigating!

I've got a skip hop which I picked up half price in tkmaxx- worth looking in there as they have loads of changing bags every time I go in there. Just swapped it over for a little rucksack as DS no longer needs an entire wardrobe when we leave the confines of our house.

I have the one that came with my bebécar pushchair. It's massive and clips onto the pushchair handle using poppers. I love it.
I also have a backpack that I use when carrying DS in the wrap.

Stork sak elizabeth. But I alternate with a backpack (not an actual change bag) when baby wearing and a favourite handbag (again not a change bag)

I remember buying my first baby change bag within hours of finding out I was pregnant Grin I had a sturdy Cath Kidston strawberries one. Trouble with wipe clean surface bags is you do a lot of wiping clean Grin plus they're so big you get all excited about stuffing it to the brim with 'might needs' like two packs of wipes, change of clothes, spare shoes, and so on, so that it ends up weighing as much as the baby.

However, by the time baby number two came along, I had learnt that changing bags actually weigh a fair bit when empty, and changing mats can be pointless and a faff, I was changing nappies like a pro, on my knees or laying a cardi on the grass or even in the pram/buggy or park bench. So I ended up chucking a nappy, some wipes and a spare Babygros in a carrier bag by baby number two and that was that.

I don't remember the quote exactly, but first time Mums are an absolute marketing dream as they will buy anything and everything for their first baby.

So true nexus - I keep saying it's like the wedding marketing world!

I think it's the fact the yummy mummy is such a solid structure whereas a slouchy Handbag is much easier to chuck stuff into.

My mum made me one.

But I found that I could fit the travel mat (packed with a couple of nappies and a pack of wipes), a change of clothes and a couple of muslins in my handbag, so I just used that mostly unless we were out for the whole day. I was bf ing so no bottles etc. And I never bothered with books or toys when we went out, Dd much preferred looking at the big wide world (nosy madamSmile). I can't be doing with hefting huge amounts of stuff everywhere.

I used to have a huge suitcase style changing bag when ds was a baby. It was all black, had a large strap that could go around the shoulder and across the body or could wrap around the pram handles, it had a lined cool pocket for milk bottles and there were compartments in the main bit for nappies, spare clothes, wipes etc etc.
It did my head in as it was far to big and cumbersome. When ds went to nursery I bought a Thomas rucksack that was big enough to hold a few nappies and a spare set of clothes yet small enough for him to carry. I used to use it for dd's things too when she was born - now she has her own little rucksack. They carry their own bags now when they're out and about and I just put my phone, keys and purse in my pocket.

GoooRooo · 04/02/2015 09:27

I had a Mia Tui one. He's nearly 3 and I still use it now. It has lots of handy compartments

I have just ordered a pacapod after reading this thread. I am currently in hospital about to have baby #5 and LOVE a decent changing bag. Mine was always full with the other babies! Spare clothes/bottles/snacks/wipes/nappies/infacol/calpol/toys... I literally packed the lot! Having said that I did away with a handbag and chucked purse, keys, phone in it too! Changing bags are all part of the excitement for me!

Strokethefurrywall · 04/02/2015 21:18

Had a Kate Spade leather number for DS1 which I spent an extortionate amount of money on, and a Pacapod for when we flew.

DS2 I just used the pacapod again in the early days, and now he's 10 months I just use a big Michael Kors tote bag and chuck nappies and change stuff in there.

I do love a nice bag though, for nappies or otherwise!

GingerCuddleMonster · 04/02/2015 21:38

I have one I found in tk maxx, it didn't have a brand I don't think it's blue with checks and lime green zip, with muggy the Rabbitt on it, a bargain at 5quid came with a massive padded changing mat too, I fit all my crap in it plus babies stuff so no need for handbag Grin.

GingerCuddleMonster · 04/02/2015 21:39

miffy the Rabbitt

umiaisha · 05/02/2015 18:10

With DD (8 years ago mind!) I had a navy Topshop one and then with DS (4 years ago) I had a Cath Kidston one, which I wasn't keen on as everything seemed to keep falling out of it.

Expecting no 3 in a couple of weeks and this time I have gone for a normal Longchamp bag. As there are so many colours it was easy to match it with the pram and hopefully everything will easily zip inside.
