She banged her head on the coffee table on Sunday morning. she cried a lot but after about 10 mins of cuddles, she seemed fine. No lump has come up as expected but she hates being woken up now and doesn't want to stand up or walk or even crawl. as soon as she tries, she cries. Should I be concerned?

Yes absolutely get her checked. I don't understand why you'd take any chances with something that could be potentially so serious

On way home to see how she is for myself. Thanks all. Will update here.

It may be completely unrelated, and she's just worked out that walking takes it out of your legs when you're small and your body is surprisingly heavy, plus you say she's playing normally, but it's certainly worth getting the bump investigated even if the "not happy to walk / stand" thing is unrelated.

So 2 hrs later to you still haven't taken her?

34PinkLadyApple · 20/01/2015 19:13

She is absolutely fine in herself apart from the odd, dont want to put my arm in my pyjamas type stuff. All movements and reactions ok apart from not wanting to stand. I rang nhs direct and they said keep an eye on her and if she still wont stand in 24 hrs, Doctors appointment.

If she only learned to walk in the last couple of weeks I'm less worried. It can be within an acceptable range of 'normal' for a child to walk for a bit and then, having satisfied herself that she has that skill sorted, choose not to do so for a bit. There's never any harm in consulting a professional to be sure though.

My DD had a bang to the head and had a fracture and 2 brain bleeds. GO TO A&E!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

halestone · 21/01/2015 13:29

How is your Dd today OP?

Enjoyingmycoffee1981 · 21/01/2015 13:48

Tied up. .. and did you daughter seem totally fine in her self? Napping normally, playing normally, happy? Three days later

Op, follow nhs on this one. She's developed a new skill, had a fall, and now associates the new skill with pain hence her reluctance to get back in her feet. It's very common.

TiedUpWithString · 21/01/2015 15:45

No. I took her straight to the docs and they referred to A&E. 2 scans later they diagnosed the bleeds and fracture. I did not wait 3 days.
