Who has done an access to nursing/midwifery course?

I am 28 and would love to be a midwife, would need to do an access course as my qualifications/a-levels were too long ago and bad grades! (Was pg!)

I work full-time in an admin job at the moment which obviously I know would have to change! How many hours a week are the access courses for? Most say 15 hours, so is that normally two full days? Also did you have a job alongside it, or do you really need all your other time to study?

I did an access course but it was not a nursing one, however I do know someone who went on to do midwifery after doing the course I did.
The course itself was about 15hrs a week but I was in 4 days a week and the hours were abit strange ie. Monday start at 9 have 2hour class and then next lecture at 3pm.

I know the midwifery degree is extreme competitive and my friend who went on to do the degree had gained a lot of health experience prior to applying to uni, so that might be worth giving some thought

I'm doing access and it's 4 days a week

I've just started an online access course. I can do this around my job and my family :)

My access to nursing was 5 days a week, half day on the Friday, rest of the time I was in 9-3.30-4pm, if I had a short class I was studying.
MW places depending where you are can be 300+ people applying for 15-20 places.

Midwifery is unbelievably competitive. My sister did the access course, has 5 years hosptial experience including some labour ward time and still got knocked back twice. She's now doing adult nursing instead.

Not to put a downer on it, just making you aware. Her access course was 15 hours a week but involved a log of self study so in reality was more. She worked alongside but was knackered most of the time
