How do they work? Why dont they just leak? Why are they better than plastic ones? Looking at them for night, but I just dont seem to understand them! Any help greatly appreciated.

I have a fleece wrap, and I don't understand how it doesn't leak, but it never has!

They "breathe" ....letting some moisture escape so keeping the baby drier (I think)

Fleece sort of lets the moisture evaporate out, but doesn't absorb any of it, which is why you can get compression wicking if they are sat in a car seat etc in fleece for too long. Wool absorbs a lot of the moisture, and then in the same was as fleece, it evaporates off. Both of them let the air circulate properly, making them nicer than the PUL ones.

Wool is better in many ways than fleece because where it absorbs as well as evaporates, the compression issue doesn't happen so much.

Wool wraps are absolutely fantastic. Genuinely better than fleece and I thought they were brilliant in comparison to the PUL. The wetness does evaporate making it healthier as it does not trap it inside the nappy and you do not need to wash wool as often. Woollywraps all the way

Dont understand though. If you can get compresison leaks on car seats ect. then surly, when your DC is sleeping it would just soak through into sleepsuits and bedding.

As long as they are well boostered, then there is enough time for it to evaporate so it doesn't soak in. You get the compression bit from where the clip on the car seat is pressing in iyswim, not so much the sitting down issue.

like fleece for night if dd in a nightie

but in tight pyjamas they do get soggy; they're not good if they're going to be pressed up against sth eg if they're in a buggy or a car seat as they need space for the evaporation

I find fleece best for night when dd shifting around; or active in a dress
