Feeling awful

Just got back from the supermarket with DC2 who is 8 weeks to find I hadn't strapped his carseat in. I'm now in overtired floods of tears - if I can't do basic safety like that, how am I going to keep them both alive HmmSmile?

Been there, done that, both dc still alive! You're exhausted and made a mistake - every parent does. Nothing bad happened and you're unlikely to ever do it again!

Thank you Smile I will now spend the rest of the day avoiding sharp implements.

Brew You are back and you are both ok. I think I did the same once, and i didn't do it again.

How are things for you generally 8 weeks in? Is it just the tiredness?

Yes, thank you for asking. Have a stinking cold which is also undermining my usual position of almost sharpest tool in the box. It's the juggle with the two of them ... Knew it would be hard, but couldn't have imagined how intense and that's with an 8 week old who is relatively easy (despite reflux) and a 3 year old who despite her moments is actually being ok. It's having to drop standards as well - we've always had the odd bit of telly or easy teas but its all the time at the moment. I've also never been a craft or bake mum but at the moment if my daughter has a book read to her it's a win. And feeling groomed if I brush my fucking teeth Smilewhat's that about?

Moan moan moan.

I remember it well, even though it will be 13 years ago soon. Big cliche coming up-it gets easier, it really does. DS1 was 2 1/2 when DS2 came along and it was all a bit of a shock as to how full-on it all was. no sleeping when the baby sleeps second time around etc.

If telly and easy teas is what gets you through then don't worry, it won't be forever.

At least you all got home from the shops, my aunt left her newborn in a pram outside the chemist and

Stripylikeatiger · 17/12/2014 20:58

... Only realised when she got home!

I have children of a similar age to yours and I could very easily have done the same as youBrewCake

Singsongmama · 17/12/2014 21:04

You made it to a supermarket with a baby of 8 weeks?! Well you have my admiration and respect. I think I was happy to make it out for a walk when ds was that age! Cake and Brew for you.

Iggly · 17/12/2014 21:06

I did this. Felt sick.

I was tired, well broken with exhaustion. I shouldn't have been driving really!

stressbucket1 · 17/12/2014 21:22

Yep same here on a motorway drive! I hardly ever use a motorway and felt awful when I realised. Dont worry you won't do it again
