Feeling awful

Just got back from the supermarket with DC2 who is 8 weeks to find I hadn't strapped his carseat in. I'm now in overtired floods of tears - if I can't do basic safety like that, how am I going to keep them both alive ?

Been there, done that, both dc still alive! You're exhausted and made a mistake - every parent does. Nothing bad happened and you're unlikely to ever do it again!

Thank you I will now spend the rest of the day avoiding sharp implements.

How are things for you generally 8 weeks in? Is it just the tiredness?

Yes, thank you for asking. Have a stinking cold which is also undermining my usual position of almost sharpest tool in the box. It's the juggle with the two of them ... Knew it would be hard, but couldn't have imagined how intense and that's with an 8 week old who is relatively easy (despite reflux) and a 3 year old who despite her moments is actually being ok. It's having to drop standards as well - we've always had the odd bit of telly or easy teas but its all the time at the moment. I've also never been a craft or bake mum but at the moment if my daughter has a book read to her it's a win. And feeling groomed if I brush my fucking teeth what's that about?

I remember it well, even though it will be 13 years ago soon. Big cliche coming up-it gets easier, it really does. DS1 was 2 1/2 when DS2 came along and it was all a bit of a shock as to how full-on it all was. no sleeping when the baby sleeps second time around etc.

If telly and easy teas is what gets you through then don't worry, it won't be forever.

Yep same here on a motorway drive! I hardly ever use a motorway and felt awful when I realised. Dont worry you won't do it again
