Have reusable nappies but he's wet

Hello,

lo is 4 weeks old now and I have a selection of motherease sandys, totbots and fuzzybuns. No matter which one I put on him, he's soaked through after an hour and with him his clothes.
I use a fleece liner and have also tried a microfibre booster but still no success. Any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong?

Also, lo looks really uncomfy in his reusables as they are so bulky, he cannot even sit on our lap when we want to wind him, is that normal?

Oh he is breastfed.
Thank for your help in advance.

What wraps are you using? A nappy is only as good as its wrap. A four week old really shouldn't be soaking through a wrap to his clothes unless it's gaping and wicking onto the fabric?

Oh and congratulations btw

Thanks for congrats!

I have the motherease wraps, maybe they are slightly too big? I feel really discouraged about using them at the moment and was so looking forward to them (I know quite sad).

If he's only 4 weeks, it is possible he's still a little too small. THe poppers wraps will look big and puffy on him for a while, the velcro ones are a snugger fit but stiff round the middle because of the velcro - which might make him look uncomfy on a lap (but he won't be -he'd let you know). It's a bit of a juggling act really!

If you get the knack of fastening the nappies - they should be absolutely bomb proof and handle anything that comes at them (with b/f poo that can be explosive ) The worst leaks I ever got was onto a bit of the wrap, but not onto clothes.

Make sure the nappy is quite snug and that the wrap has no bits of the nappy showing anywhere. I'm sure there'll be others with tips too. Keep it up and you'll save a packet of dosh and once you get the hang of using the nappies themselves then you'll be leak free (unlike horrible disposable experiences I've had - eurgh - up backs and down legs - gross!

I would lean towards the wrap being too big - especially airflow... DS couldn't use his small airflows until about 10 weeks - and he was 8lb 5oz born.

I found bambino did nice teeny wraps, and nature babies (velcro better than popper for that size).
