every single time? they get silly, rowdy and shouty. drives me mad. they behave almost everywhere else. but as soon as they walk in the doors there they mis-behave.

I think theres something about the atmosphere and sensing you should be quiet etc - I always find it hard to behave in the library - something about the hushed voices makes me want to rebel!!!

They're dreadful places though, aren't they, misdee. If you didn't have adult inhibitions, wouldn't you be a little tempted to play up yourself?

Mine are all right in the waiting room, reading books quietly or something, but as soon as they get into the doctor's room itself, DS1 goes mental. He was 7 last time I took him and he still has to touch everything - lights, drawers, buckets of contaminated sharps. I used to think it was apprehension and fear, but he does it even if it's DS2 who has the appointment. DS2 on the other hand finds something to play with and co-operates beautifully. Same at the dentist.

Exactly the same as you singersgirl, alright in the waiting room but can't stop touching things and asking questions (what's this for?) when in with the dr.
