Serious Potty Regression - Related to starting Preschool???

Is there anyone out there that can please advise me on this???

To try and cut a long story short I have been training DS (2.11) for 4 months! He has cracked it several times over this period and has gone weeks on end without accidents but each time we start back at pre-school the accidents start again. (He had summer camp for 3 weeks then left, started pre-school in Sept and left for a holiday for 2 weeks).

Has anyone else experienced this and if so what did you do?

I am getting down about this now as I don't know what to do and am close to putting him back into nappies as I am fed up with going through 4-5 outfits a day.

Reece I feel for you, we're in a similar position but not related to preschool. Do you think he is happy at preschool? Have you talked to him about it? This might be a bit drastic but have you thought about trying a different one?
I've just posted on a similiar thread if you're interested in how I'm dealing with it. I have basically stopped all the accidents (except poo) but had to go back a stage (sigh) Think it will be a long haul now.......

Hi petitfilou. Thanks for your post. Will check out your other thread.
DS was actually dry yesterday for the 1st time in ages and today he was dry all day until this evening. I could see that his trousers had a wet patch on them so he was being lazy and letting the wee dribble away slowly. This is so irritating. Anyway I was calm about it and changed him etc. Then when DH came home he did it again.

I think he is lazy and using it as a way to get at us.

Hi I am having the same sort of problem with DD 3.10.
She has been dry night and day since March but during our recent holiday she started soiling everywhere. In shoes and clothes (I'm so embarassed to mention it but I am at the end of my thether) It isn't just at our house either. She does it at her nans. About two weeks after she started this she started wetting the bed again and just not bothering with the toilet during the day. I've tried cutting her drinks down and punishing her for soiling but nothing seems to be working.

HELP ME PLEASE!

Hi Typhoonsmum.
Only just read your post.
Not really sure if I can help except to say I understand the frustration you are feeling.

Has anything changed recently in your DD's routine that may have thrown her off track? Started pre-school, moved house, new baby, moved room, etc?????

I know its sometimes hard to have a full on conversation that 3 year olds fully understand but have you tried asking her why she is doing it? Don't know if thats a good idea but just a thought.

Hiya Reece.....how is it going for you? We seem to be doing ok here. DD, who is now 2.9, is using the loo on her own for both wee's and poo's and now pushes us out of the bathroom and shuts the door! Night-times are a different story - her nappy is either bone dry or sodden but I'm not going to worry about that one.

Having gone through the worst year of my life what with potty training and my Dad dying suddenly I'm quite relieved that DD has mastered the toilet scenario and that we can get on with our lives. Yes, she did regress but she seems to have come through that now, I just ignored her and let her have the accidents which I put down to complete laziness on her part....

Wait and see....!!!

Hi Barney2.
Well done!!!! Sounds like you have it cracked once and for all.

I was away from Sat until Monday. DH was looking after the boys and did a brilliant job. Also, DS1 had NO accidents!!!!!

I am so pleased but this has also highlighted that DS has accidents when I'm around so it must be entirely him seeking my attention. I am going to make a concerted efforted to give him as much attention as I can if it means stopping him sliding back into having accidents again. (sometimes easier said than done).

So far today he is dry. Only did a wee this morning before Montessori, possibly went again whilst he was there and nothing since. He realy doesn't seem to go for a wee very often any more and he still drinks loads during the day.

Will keep you posted. I have everything crossed that he stays clean and dry.

Well there was 1 occasion on Tuesday afternoon that DS's pants were quite wet and his trousers had a patch of wee on them too.

Other than that he has been clean and dry. Today he told me every time he wanted a wee or a poo and did it in the toilet

I am sooooooooo pleased!!!!!!!!!! Fingers crossed it lasts.
