When do they start doing solid poos??

DS is 8 months and has been having solids since 4 months of age, but his nappies are still like porridge rather than proper poos. Beginning to wonder if there is something wrong with his digestive system as one of the mums from my antenatal class said her ds had solid poos within a few weeks of weaning...

DD is nearly 2 and hers are only just starting to "firm up"!

It depends on what you feed them. We have quite a high-fibre diet (no white carb, lots of fruit and veg) which tends to make for loose poos. DS1 is 5 now, and I think he has firm poos reasonably often, but I think that only started at 3 or so.

I think for as long as milk is their main source of food, poo should stay quite porridgey. And everyone is differant anyway dp and I can eat exactly the same things for 3 days, but I will need to go 5 times a day, he will go twice in total.

Thanks - it's reassuring to know that he's not the only one and it sounds like I could be a long time waiting for something more solid...

Some kids have something called 'toddler diarrhoa' (sp?), doesn't mean there's anything wrong and they grow out of it. My dd's aren't very solid, and peas/sweetcorn/kidney beans etc just go straight through her(she's 20month btw).
