Started training dd when she was 2.6 now a year on still not 100%. At the moment completley wetting everything about twice a week, which is a bit annoying but copeable. But what really annoys me is everytime she goes her pants are wet to some degree a lot of the time picture on the front is wet so it not just a bit. A few drips I wouldnt mind but this is more than this. Wet herself at play school this morning and took her self to the loo after lunch at home and had to change her pants again(trousers ok)We have been at it for so long now I am sure she knows when to go but chooses to hang on till its to late. We have been relaxed about it lately which we will carry on with, but this afternoon started penny jar on the toilet. she can put a penny in the jar when she gets there in time. I didnt really want to start rewards again but its gone on for ages. As always i am worried if I`m doing the right thing. Has any one else had any success after so long. Cant wait for the day when she stays in the same pants all day and I havent got so much washing.

Sorry to go on but dd just went for a wee after I said I needed to go. 2pence piece wet patch still gave her a penny as better than normal. Was that right or should I expect them to be bone dry straight away.

Been looking at other threads seems to suggest to forget about knickers at home. But after a year should this really appply to my dd. Shouldn`t she just understand! She is better with out knickers. Good to have a moan anyway

I am in exactly the same position. I took my dd to docs last week cos i was at the end of my tether. They tested for infection (none) and said it is very common (but ahhhhh no one i know is has the same issues!!!!!, apart from you).
Anyway i am trying - been 5 days so far - only giving her water or milk to drink - she used to have fruit juice, only good juice (not even concentrated) and i read on this website ; childood continence that this had worked for some people
For me, it is early days but going well, no accidents at all today and onky a couple of minor excusable ones (iue we were in the car) at the weekend.

Anyway, you may find some other tips on this other website. Hope it helps. Good to know i am not alone.

cedar12 your dd sounds a lot like mine. We've not been training a year yet but while most of her friends seemed to be dry within weeks once they started training, dd seems to have taken much longer. Until fairly recently we had at least three pairs of damp pants a day - she rarely completely wets herself, but like you say it's as if she leaves it till the last minute! In the last few weeks things have improved, we still have damp pants but not so many and some days she doesn't need changing at all. She's starting doing poos on the toilet as well. I can only say, hang in there! I agree with not making a big issue out of it because that made no difference with us, so we backed off thinking in time it would get better. The penny jar is a good idea!

Thanks for the web address popmum, had a quick read this morning. Havent bothered with the penny jar as my dd will use any thing to annoy me! as soon as I mentioned it she was ten times worse. We walked around the shops after I started it and she started walking funny when asked why because I`m wetting my self mum, little sod. But saying that With only a couple of reminders today only one pair of pants today hurray and a poo in the potty before bed.Pant were a little bit wet but not to bad.it make a big difference having a moan.

my dd is 3.5. i think girls just take a bit longer to get used to it all and can;t hold it in as well as boys.

My health visitor said toilet her every 1 1/2 hrs,(or how often she seems to need to go) for a week have a race to the toilet etc to make fun. Then back off just toilet before you go out etc, dont get envolved in tantrums easier said than done. It did improve things but didnt get rid of damp pants
