I stupidly agreed to do a course (home study) when work offered me it. The stuff has arrived and I just thought OMG I don't know where to start! It's years since I have done any studying and I'm regretting agreeing to do it, tbh.

Please give me some moral support

I know how you feel - I only graduated last yr but my home study package is daunting. Do you have one with tutor support?

It took me a while to get into it but once you've started it seems to get a bit easier. Having a massive book & thinking you don't know anything is daunting.

Hope it all goes ok. Do you have to do exams for it?

KBear · 08/10/2006 18:42

But once you get stuck in you'll find your way and it will all come together, I'm sure. Good luck MG.

I am trying to escape from my job at the moment, have applied for something completely different and am panicking but nothing ventured and all that....

MamaGhoul · 08/10/2006 18:58

Yes blondilocks, it does have tutor support, hopefully that will be helpful. No exams, but 6 assignments and if I fail one, I fail teh whole lot no pressure there..

KBear - ooh tell me more!

The tutor support seems helpful reading posts on a board for my study course, but haven't used it yet.

Do you know what percentage you need to get to pass? Also can you go to any workshops for the assignments?

I must stress that starting the study has been the hardest part so far. Now I'm a few chapters in it seems much better.

MamaGhoul · 08/10/2006 19:02

Need 40% so not tooo bad

no workshops, but there is a website where i can post to tutors or fellow students so hoping that will be a valuable asset (if I can get of MN that is!)

you'll be fine, I'm sure. The getting started is the hardest bit, but once you get going it gets easier and you should enjoy it. I'm in the third year of an ou degree, and although there is times when I have felt like quitting, on the whole it is quite enjoyable. try to get some email addresses of other students for support. Good luck with it.

MG - I've applied for a school secretary job, still umming and ahing about it - I am terrified of changing - been at my job for almost 20 years - BUT I'm miserable there and need a change. Now DS is at school I have more options and a term-time job would fit the bill. My experience might not be what they're looking for so am not expecting a call really (closing date is tomorrow). I'll keep you posted.

Meanwhile, back to you !!

Thanks Kelly

KBear - sounds great, it would be ideal to have a term time job, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, keep me posted
