Ideas for entertaining a baby?

Hello all.

DD1 will be 11 weeks tomorrow. She definitely now of an age where's she interested in the world and wants to be entertained in the daytime. She has a babygym but usually only tolerates it for about 5-10 minutes at a time. She also likes people making silly faces at her and is interested in a couple of toys (although doesn't really know what to do with them other than look at them yet). I try to take her out daily so she can watch the world go by, which she enjoys. However I was wondering if anyone else had any ideas on 'games' I can play with her at home? I'm short on ideas and a tad bored of doing the same things all day.

Thank you! Smile

Twenty tiny toes this is exactly right. My number 3 is doing a lot of coffee shops right now!

My others are school age, so I'm making the most of it.

Although I have enjoyed the more mobile stage better than small baby in the past!

Use the arches of your baby gym to give your baby different things to look at. I use battery operated fairy lights (you can buy them in pound land), bead strings, tinsel, ribbons.
My ten week old loves having different coloured chiffon scarves laid on his face then pulled off. I bought a set of juggling scarves from eBay.
Read books with simple, bright pictures and do actions and sound effects for each page.

Also, there are some nice ideas in an app I downloaded called let's play (free on android, don't know about iTunes)

Thank you everyone. I'll definitely give some of these a go - particularly the ones to try and get her to entertain herself a bit. DD is a bit of a velcro baby and if I'm honest it can get a bit wearisome, so loving the ideas for some things I can try to get her to do on her own for a bit.

Would love to just go for a café for a bit, but if she's awake (and she does seem to be awake quite a bit in the day), then she just cries if I leave her in her pram whilst I have a drink, and I end up having to pick her up as start getting dirty looks from other café customers. Similarly if I take her out in her pram she cries if the pram stops moving (like if I stop to look at something or join a queue) so she's quite difficult to keep entertained! x

My son loved to go for walks in the buggy or sling. He liked to see the world, to be out and about doing things. Once he'd been out, he was more content to let me get on with things, and less of a velcro baby.
