Coping with meltdown in carseat?

SleepyMcgee · 21/11/2014 16:49

I've just driven back from town with my DD being hysterical in her car seat. I had to pull over once as I was worried about her. Gave her lots of cuddles, got a burp out...thought, right let's get home. No she had other ideas and typically the bloody traffic was bad therefore prolonging the agony on my ears and my poor baby's throat Sad
How do people cope with these stressful times? She's in her bouncer chair now, absolutely fine so I just don't know what the problem was Confused

You could try rocking to sleep rather than feeding, the car would then be a similar sensation?

Just be careful, we were still rocking a very heavy 10mo, definitely do it in a rocking chair rather than standing up!

If she wants to be sucking all night I would investigate silent reflux, or a food intolerance such as cows milk protein intolerance - which is what both mine had so they had sore tummies whenever I ate dairy, and sensitive tummies anyway at the best of times...

Oh and just had to drive 20 mins of with a crying 12 month old in the back - because it was dark and she couldn't see out... The 3 yo fell asleep instead so it's going to be a late bedtime!

Thank you both. Will try rocking her. I'd looked on the internet and found something about high needs babies and a lot of those qualities fit with how she is.
Busty she's on omeprazole for reflux which has made so much difference! I've also excluded many foods which I found were irritating her and causing her pain. Sorry you had a tough journey, it's hard isn't it and nothing you could do to rectify what was upsetting your 12 mo

Been out in the car today. Giving her a feed before we went and her Baby Einstein toy has saved my sanity and ears Smile
