Are they organic, I only like the organic fish fingers?

DS's friend round for tea a while back.

Me ,"Do you like fishfingers?"
"Are they organic, I only like the organic fish fingers?"
Me, "Sure!" Before popping my non organic fish fingers in the oven.

He ate them up just fine.

Anyway, it made me chuckle at the time but it's obviously bothered me a bit that I lied, and didn't tell his mum, as it pops into my mind from time to time. Is there any reason why a child would HAVE to have organic fish fingers?

My favourite recent guest (quite apart from the fact that she a a lovely child anyway and wanted to play dressing up and play with the playmobil), was the little girl who, when we were discussing tea options in the car on the way home, and I had offered cheese, ham or both sandwiches, announced

Her: I like cheese and ham best. Shall I tell you how to make a cheese and ham sandwich?
Me: ok Hmm
Her: you take a piece of cheese, and then a piece of ham, and then another piece of cheese.
Me: Grin

I provided the two of them with a platter of cheese, cold meats and tomatoes/cucumber, which they duly hoovered - she is a girl after my own (and DD's) heart.

I definitely prefer her to DD's "bestest friend" who so far has told me that she doesn't like the way I cook spaghetti bolognese and macaroni cheese. She is getting toast next time. I was warned that she was hard work, although I didn't say anything to her lovely mother who would be Shock and Blush.

It would be my new 'mantra' but it's a small village and I will go and blurt it in front of her Grin

H asked if I'd like to go out for Tea on my Birthday.
Oh, says I, but I only eat 'restaurant quality food' Grin

If I had a kid dropped off for a playdate and was told they were expecting restaurant quality food, I'd take them to McDonalds... ok, restaurant is probably stretching it a bit

Since when did goujons qualify as restaurant quality food???

I once had a kid come round who looked at one of my book shelves, shook his head sadly and tutted, "oh dear mummy, look at all those dvds.."

I wouldn't have minded but they were books. BOOKS!

I would have been busy judging the other parents for the fact that their child didn't know what books are. In the right wrong mood I might even have made a snarky comment about it.
