Waterproof matress cover...

Can anyone recommend a good waterproof matress cover for a cot bade that isn't plastic? Potty trained DS (3yrs) on the last bank holiday weekend and he hasn't had a wet night time nappy since, so thought I might go the whole hog and throw the nappies away!

Cheers

BR

scroll down to bed protector

we've got two and they're great, do not feel plasticky at all.

I have two, one is plasticky and horrid but the other (which, guess what, cost more) is lovely.

Try Vertbaudet, I've bought all my covers from there (cot and single bed), they do cotton covered PVC and various others. If you haven't ordered before sign up then trawl for discount codes on here or other parenting sites, you can often get 40-50% off.

PretendFriend · 07/10/2006 21:42

La Redoute - we have had the flannelette-covered PVC ones from there, they're about £13-14 for a singlebed sized one and they wash at up to 90 and tumble dry too.

(Mind you hub bought one on my recommendation and the corner elastics fell off his)

We have a couple of the ones from twinkle twinkle but to be honest I prefer this one from Boots . It's more like a 'care mat' and less like a sheet, so you don't have to tuck it in, just slip it on top of (or underneath) the top sheet and replace it if it gets wet. The backing stops it slipping around the place. Although it's polyester it's quite soft. It is quilted and very absorbent.

just a little warning though, my ds1 was really keen to go without nappies at night just after he was dry during the day. It worked for about 2 weeks and then he started wetting himself again, and refused to go back to nappies. So we had loads of interrupted nights and loads of washing... We have now been saved by 'pajama pants', which he accepts because they are called pants and not nappies!

Yes, pf.

The John Lewis ones can now be put into the tumble dryer. I prefer them to the Redoute ones which bunch up under the sheet IME.
