whats your budget?

I've had a Maclaren side by side one when mine were newborn and 22 months old. It was great, it fit in my car boot (focus size) and went through door ways as promised. It was also very sturdy, what you'd expect from a maclaren. I will say it was a good job it wasn't winter though, as the seats were quite narrow and I doubt my oldest child would've fit in too well if he had been wrapped up in big winter coat etc.

I sold my maclaren, not planning on having any more and well, lets just say DB3 is due in 10 weeks!

So... I now have a Phil and Teds E3. Yes, they are blooming expensive, but out of the 5 buggies I've had so far it has been the best. I think had I brought this one first I would never had to spend out on all the others we've had!!
It has had my 2 yrold (who's now 3) riding in the front, with my youngest riding in the back. I'm quite tall and I didn't bash my legs on the rear seat, thanks to the handle height adjustment. Come December it will be swapped around to fit in the newborn and DS2 will sit on the front. DS1 will have to walk! I would definately recommend it if you can afford one.

18 months between mine. I had a Mountain Buugy with a carrycot on one side. Loved it.

Disliked the E3 and sold it on.

I had an 18month gap between my two and only used the double buggy for 6months as eldest wanted to walk everywhere. Didnt spend alot of money on it as was told probably wouldn't use it for that long. I bought the Graco sideby side. Think approx £100.

i have a 16 month age gap between my 2 children and i have a phil and teds and would also def recommend it. Its great and not heavy to push.
I also mad marco sky was good but im short and handles were too high and got very heavy as my kids go older. Also had a cheapy side by side umbrella for at nanna's but again very heavy to push.

jambuttie · 07/10/2006 18:43

try having a look on ebay hun.

I have bought 2 brand new ones and a 2nd hand one- bit of a buggy mad woman me thinks

There are a few nursery shops on there that sell and you can win them on auction for as little as a tenner

hope this helps

there's 18 months between mine and I just got a phil and teds - its brill - and the only double buggy that you can convert back to a single if you want. Careful on ebay - even 2nd hand ones go for more than new (incl postage) - we got ours from Great Expectations in Brighton (they have a website) - they seemed to be the cheapest we could find. GOOD LUCK

nappiesLaGore · 11/10/2006 19:40

mumatuks, u do realise the 3 yo and 2 yo will fight it out for the seats and newborn will be in a sling anyway, right? jus to shatter ur illusions early!

Amaretto · 11/10/2006 20:14

20 months between my a dss.
I had a ZZooper, double buggies that you can convert back to a single. Great idea but I hardly used it as a double!
Mainly because for long ish walks, I actually used the car and for the rest ds1 walked...
I would advice to wait and see what you actually do with 2 under 3s. Personnaly, I would use either a single buggy and ds1 walking or a sling and ds1 in the buggy.
ds1 is now 3yo and walks everywhere.

Emskilou · 11/10/2006 20:21

14 months between mine and I have got an emmaljunga twin, only because they can face me though! Is a bit of a tank but I love it!! Had a maclaren twin techno, which I hated before that and before that a childwheels heap of crap twin thing! Probably not much help am I?!?!

nappiesLaGore · 11/10/2006 21:42

i reccomend not buying a double till you really need it

A - because new designs come out all the time and there may be something more suitable for you by the time you need it.
B - because you may find you dont use it much afterall.

would highly recommend sticking to the single and getting a sling. if you need advice on slings, start a whole new thread coz theres LOADS to choose from.

nappiesLaGore · 11/10/2006 21:43

3andnomore · 11/10/2006 22:18

Why???

AllBuggiedOut · 11/10/2006 22:25

Also have an ABC Everest. It's a slightly cheaper and slightly smaller Mountain Buggy. I really like it.

Unless you have angel kids who do exactly what you say (or maybe you never go shopping...) I think a double is essential. There's 2 years between my boys. DS1 is 3 now but I still use the double if we're out shopping so that he doesn't wander off/get lost/refuse to walk the way I want him to and so I can put him in there with a snack/book/toy to keep him occupied while I am busy. We use a pliko with a buggy board for short trips, but I wouldn't be without the side-by-side double.

nappiesLaGore · 12/10/2006 17:59

yeah, allbuggiedout, good point. if you need them to move in a given direction/time frame and they just dont fancy it, you do need a way to strap them in and get on with it...

3andnomore - because i now have a mothers help girl and so am v rarely, if ever, out on my own with the 3 of them, so couldnt really justify the expense of it. should have just bloody kept it anyway tho coz im far from skint and it was the best thing i ever saw ever. dp hated it, so thats why it went.

scarybluealien · 12/10/2006 18:16

urban detour was the best 3.6 years ago.
maybe the e3 now?

hana · 12/10/2006 18:19

have just bought a jane powertwin
dd3 is 4 weeks old - I've been using a sling and a techno every day for the school run but it was time to get a buggy - dd2 is almost 21 months, so I'll get a lot of use out of it

carwillin · 12/10/2006 19:06

Just seen this post, but I've got a M & P's twin aria for sale. There are 22 months between my two but my eldest wants to walk everywhere so it has been used a maximum of a dozen times with just a newborn in it. I love the buggy aswell, it's light and deceptively narrow, yet the seat sits my 2.2 yr old nicely (and he's bigger than average) YOu can see them both in it here . I paid £180 for it new with the rain cover and I'm looking for £100.

If anyone is interested let me know by Monday as it's going on Ebay.
