Hi all,

I will soon be going on a 9 hour long haul flight with DH and DS who just turned 2 :)
Was wondering if you have any tips on how to keep him entertained?

We have bought him a Trunki to take all his stuff. Planning on taking enought snacks, some toys, books, sticker books and iPad loaded with Peppa videos ... anything else that you would recommend?
Would one of those travel aquadoodles be useful?

Also, can you recommend some headphones that would be suitable for DS? don't want to disturb other passengers with non-stop Peppa :)

Finally, DS eeds a bottle of milk before sleeping at night... how do I carry milk on the flight. It is a BA flight...

TIA :)

Trunkis are good when they are a bit older as they can pull them by them self and easy to pack and unpack independently for a four or five year old. Agree at two I wouldn't bother.

I can't remember what I've done about milk, I think take formula and then just carry the powder and ask for water to mix it up with? Or cartons? Or if not small cartons of uht milk?

It's only nine hours you could probably risk cold milk in an insulated bag or bottle holder.

Age two is a pretty easy age to fly as they are more dis tractable and have their own seat. Hth

Thank you all again for the reassuring messages!!

After all the planning we may have to cancel our trip Sad DS has had a high fever since yesterday and the airlines need a doctor's letter saying he is fit enough to fly... even if we manager to get such a letter by tomorrow, I am not sure whether I should put DS through a 9 hour flight when he us ill Sad Sad

Feeling absolutely gutted as I haven't been home for more than a year and the grandparents were really looking forward to seeing DS Sad

Oh no! Sorry to hear this. Hope there's better news now? Toddler fevers can disappear fast sometimes, hope this is one of those times. Wishing you all the best Wine/Brew

I just wanted to thank everyone for all the wonderful advice.

Unfortunately, DS didn't recover and we had to cancel our holiday Sad
Right now I should ha e been back at home in India being pampered by my family... instead I have to go back to work on Monday Sad Sad
We couldn't reschedule for next week and the tickets prices at such short notice were ridiculous !

DS is finally feeling a bit better today... first day of no fever.
I guess these things happen when you have kids Smile

Anyways, tha is again and I'll be returning. back to this post when I can fly again in a few months... Grin

WineThanks

I'm sorry to hear you didn't manage to get home, but glad to hear DS is feeling better.

Hope you manage to get some refund on the ticket price

Thanks

Glad your little boy is on the mend Flowers

Great News on the insurance (a guy at work has just lost 10K, as his wife refused to get on the plane Shock )

Hope you enjoy planning your next trip home.

PS you might find he doesn't need the bottle of milk before sleeping when in a different environment.

Playdoughcaterpillar · 16/11/2014 08:01

Oh and for next time you can download lots of stuff from cbeebies onto iPad too x

mumtosp · 16/11/2014 19:17

Playdough DS has started showing interest in cbeebies so that's a good idea Smile

addictedtosugar she refused to get on the flight !! fear of flying !?!

I second not forgetting to pre order his meal - if you don't he won't get one. Even if he won't eat most of it will be something different to amuse him.
And a big shout out for crisps! If your Ds doesn't usually eat them they will be a nice (mess free) treat. Pom bears all the way.
You can get fresh milk if that's what he has on board and also as much juice as you like so take an empty sippy cup.
