Surviving a poonami...

Yesterday I experienced the highlight of my time so far as a new mum... A poonami. At the same time as a flood of wee and sick...

Here is my account if how we survived and the path of destruction that was left...

Ah.

Wait until your darling baby not only shits up the back and out of the side of the nappy, covering itself in it practically head to toe, but does so just as you are out of the room, as they are on the cusp of crawling, and spreads the surplus crap all over the cream rug, white sofa.. And their own FACE.

That, reader, is a poo-nami.

I have discovered since writing that post that
a) it won't be the last poonami
b) they only get worse
c) vests can be pulled down thus avoiding getting poo in the baby's hair!

Your tale fills me with horror of what lies ahead!

After two years... I could hit myself! Of course a shitty vest can go down rather than up.

I'm honestly bewildered why that has never occurred to before now?Blush

Oh no 2 years! I'm so grateful that someone told me after just 3 weeks. Again that vibe is coming through that I need to get used to poonamis.

Other advice I have had has been to take 2 sets of spare clothes everywhere as poonamis in public places are always worse!! Ahhh!

I've had a fair few of them in my time. The worst one by far though was when a 4 week old baby dd was a little bunged up so I used a technique I learned in baby massage and baby yoga to help clear it.

She pooed so I waited until she'd finished and changed her nappy. I lifted her legs up to wipe her bum and then it happened...

The pressure on her abdomen, caused by me lifting up her legs, was enough to make more poo come out. By crikey it came out with some force; it was like a poo missile that shot out of her backside and splattered all over me. And it kept coming in waves. There was nothing I could do but sit there and wait for it to finish. The look of satisfaction on her face afterwards was priceless!

I got up, undressed and dumped my clothes in the sink and returned to my still nappy-less dd only to find that she'd done a wee, which again must have come out with some force because there was a line of wee on the carpet in front of her spreading at least a foot.

Omg I'd never experienced anything like that before or since but the incident has Bern imprinted on my mind ever since.

2 weeks old, first night home from hospital. 2 am nappy change, DR on changing table I lift up her legs to wipe and poo foes all over my arm and all up the wall. I woke DH to clean up....

boopdoop · 25/10/2014 21:54

I was changing my DS is pub toilets when he was about 6-7 weeks old as he'd poo'd and it had gone through 2 layers of clothes.... Then when naked he projectile poo'd! It hit me, the wall, the floor and him. I was on my own, had left phone on table so couldn't call friends for help. And really didn't know what to clean first!! Urgh!

We also had three instances of projectile poo when changing at home. It hit a distance of 5 feet!! Carpet still a little stained!! One of times I caught some of it in my hand.

Now at 7 months his poos are solid - more smelly but at least less mess!!!

Littlef00t · 26/10/2014 07:52

I feed my 7 month old a varying amount of banana each day depending on her recent poos as it seems to bung her up a bit, we aim for playdoh poos.

I love all of the poo-nami stories!!! They fill me with dread. But they have also made me laugh out loud.

What other things do I need to prepare myself for?
