waterproof shoes for one year old

Hi all

Just wondered if anyone could recommend any shoes for my (just under) one year old. She has been walking for 7 weeks and is very confident now. Have been using leather slipper soft shoes but she wants to walk outside now and when we tried those in the park, the moisture went straight through.

Wanted some barefoot style soft ones like Bobux but have now read that they aren't waterproof? Is it a choice between flexible and porous or stiff and waterproof?!

If anyone knows a good independent children's shoe shop in S London that they could recommend, that would be great too!

These might do it, although "waterresistant" always makes me suspicious:

Happy Little Soles is a great shop, I have bougt loads from them.

Ooh those look good although rather bright! How many pairs do people usually buy at once? Obviously for me I'm used to a range of shoes for outfits and functions (not that a one year old would notice) but I heard they can grow out of them every 8 weeks!!

We used Stonz waterproof booties at that stage, with thick socks under them. I really recommend them - very waterproof, stay on well, last for ages... Couldn't be better IMO.

Gently Elephant in Brockley. They have a good selection, and I bought my one year olds shoes form there recently. The have barefoot style and also soft, but more waterproof looking boots.

We bought wellies as they're fine for fairly short walks which is all you'll realistically be doing for a while. Last pair I bought were small size 4 from asda for about £5. Clarks shoes are pretty good unless completely immersed if you want something a bit more structured.

Definitely don*t buy more than 2 pairs of shoes in the same size, if you can avoid it, they can absolutely grow out of them very quickly! You can look for cheap second hand first shoes on eaby, the won't be very worn ;)

DD has been walking four months and is still in cruisers. They are do flexible you can bend them in half but have solid soles and she's never got wet feet. They do vary - some look less sturdy and others look more hefty than the ones we got (ours are Hush Puppies)

PS am sure that the barefoot ones are waterproof in the bigger sizes. If you email Happy Little Soles they'll advise you
