im thinking around ideas for a present to give to dd (2.4 yrs) when her baby brother comes early jan.

What did you get your dc as a present from the baby?

I don't want anything too expensive or big. Just a token gift really. She's got loads of sticker books and craft type things. Was looking at barbies/ my little ponies but if rapunzel from the Disney store is anything to go by she'll take one look at it, look thoroughly unimpressed and never look at it again.

If you could tell me what you got for the baby to give that would be great just to give me some ideas. Thanks!

Not at that stage so can't advise, but saw a little sister babygrow the other day and thought that was a good idea. The new baby is incidental to the older child as it were. The focus is on the older child.

We got dd a doctors kit. She was 2.5 and loved it. Still plays with it now at 4. I think it was £5 from sainsburys. I was in hospital for a week pre birth and both of us were in for two after so it was good for her to do some hospital role play at home Smile

DS1 was given a plastic shark from DS2.

I was when my brother was born and he brought me a baby doll when he came home from the hospital (still have him now). It meant I had a baby to look after as well.

I was '3'

Just had ds2, and he thoughtfully bought his older brother (3) an umbrella (as he's been wanting his own for ages) and postman pat the movie on DVD - I had thought he latter would be helpful for feeding times but thus far ds1 is refusing to watch it Hmm

DS gave DD 2 books. She was 21 months when he was born.

DD 'bought' DS a cat outfit when she arrived. As he had been quite desperate for some time for a tail, it went down very well. Many pictures of The Cat holding The Baby Girl and showing off his magnificent tail.
and my catheter bag and post c section face in the background.

DS will be 20 next month, I think I should look out those photos for when his girl comes over for a birthday meal...

I bought my sister a pushchair. She was 3.5 and has no recollection of me at all, the pushchair looks large in her memory.

My mum got me a doll when my sister was born and I adored it. I did the same for a friend's dd when her second child was born.

DS bought DD some megablocks and board to build on. We had in fact bought the blocks in a sale ages ago but thought it was a good opportunity to give them to her. Something like that works well during feeding times. DD also got an umbrella as she will now be on a buggy board!

We did a doll and somesome nappies and clothes so Dd1 could join in with looking after a baby.

With hindsight what I should have got was a camera (even a cheap disposable one) to join in the picture taking.
