How do you intend to use them?

I wouldn't bother. Instead I'd read lots of books to DC. Far more interesting for both of you.

Better to do jigsaws, books, shape sorters, go for walks, collect and sort treasure etc.

I've hear they're good for communication before they learn to talk properly? or am I thinking of something else?

If it's for communication I've heard a lot of good things about Makaton reducing frustration for littlies.

Have you tried baby signing?

People usually interpret 'flashcards' to be cards with eg letters, coulours or pictures that are used for rote learning of vocabulary. Not at all necessary in the usual course of language development.

Other activities mentioned above, especially talking, will be much more effective. How old is the child?

LackingCommonSense · 20/10/2014 21:43

I did it for a while..but he was too young I think.. just thinking about starting it up again actually.

He's 15mo atm..I know he's still young but just putting feelers out. He's really bright so just wanting to do everything I can to encourage it! Am doing everything already mentioned!
