Inconsolable crying after 8 week / 2 months injections?

8 week old had first round of injections this morning. Obviously cried initially but soon calmed down.

Then 4 hours later this afternoon, the inconsolable crying started! Sad Nothing we do can help it seems, and he has been crying his head off for the last hour.

Is this normal? The nurse told us that if he cried continously for 4 hours then to come back to the doctor as he might have reacted badly to the injections. It's only been one hour, but he is really wailing!

Please tell me they all do this?

Have you dosed him with calpol? I did for both mine immediately after as they're miserable after vaccinations. In fact DD' s were 2 days ago and she's still been difficult today... if you've tried medicine I would ring the surgery straight away and ask to see someone. I hope he settles soon!

Thanks, actually we were just considering the calpol! I think we will give him a dose now and see what happens.

Looks like calpol did the trick! Smile

My dd had her 16 week ones on wednesday and still isnt herself today she's really grumpy and her forehead feels cool and clammy which Im a bit worried about these ones have definately affected her the worst Ive given her calpol as soon as we've got home each time glad it seems to have worked for your little one

Butterfly my DD is the same, 16 weeks old and vaccinations on Wednesday- she's settled down today but the last few days she's been pretty miserable! On the other hand I think I've been overheating mine with the milder weather - she's been sweaty and clammy which can be a sign of overheating a little. I hope she feels better today!

Yeah Violet she is a bit better today too but still not 100% I think she's starting with teeth too though. I have maybe been overheating her too Im normally not like that either I have her cooler rather tham warm but I've had the heating on too much it's this stupid weather one minute its freezing the next red hot! I've taken her temp which is 35.7 I was unsure if this was a bit low?

My DD reacted just like this. I assumed it was the rotavirus vaccine causing it as her screaming was accompanied by terrible wind Sad Second lot of vaccines were no trouble at all.

Well he's definitely more himself today, and we only needed the one dose of calpol last night.

Fingers crossed it doesn't get worse for his 12 and 16 week sessions.
