Help desperately needed for very heavy bedwetter that had been dry for 4 months!

dd2 went dry at night for a good 4 months with not a single accident. Then her baby brother arrived and we moved house all within 8 weeks of each other (yes I am certifiable ). Even so we only had the occassional accident. Gradually these got worse and worse i.e. from maybe once a week to twice to three etc. We've cut out bed time drinks (which was heartbreaking to do) and once it got to at least 4 times a week we started to lift her at some point between 10.00 and 11.00 pm. Now if we don't lift her she is guaranteed to wet the bed at some point between that time and then last night despite lifting her she still wet the bed at 3.00 am! We're going backwards rapidly and I don't understand why. Given that she'd been dry for a good 4 months there is absolutely no way that she would tolerate going back into nappies (we used it as a kind of threat to get her to give up the bedtime milk i.e. wear a nappy and you can have the milk or do without etc etc). Its almost as if by lifting her we've set in a habit to go to the loo at 10.30 at night.

So what the hell do we do now.

I used the kushies potty training pants when I had this problem - got the bright ones as they are softer than the pale/pvc ones and quicker to dry. They did hold a wee and there was alot less washing! You can get them from Perfectly Happy People or www.thebabycatalogue.com. Much better than going back to nappies and def better than horrible disp pull ups! They also know when they are wet which is good. You could also get a protective bed mat - think PHP do those aswell. I put one between the sheet and the mattress protector (also waterproof!) as it saves washing everything!

We do lift our ds2 at 9.30pm and then he is fine until morning - the kushies training pants were used on ds1 and ds2 for night time training.

Good luck!

But moving forward how to do I train her not to do this? She certainly knows she's wet the bed and yes we have a washable bed mat although possibly getting a training pant capable of holding would be better. Its more that I'm confused as to why she's doing it now and how the heck to train her out of it.

It is really hard - going back into a training pant or nappy at night isn't that bad - you can try again when she is bigger - it does save an awful lot of washing and frustration! I have been there myself (twice!) so really do understand how you feel!
