changing nappies

Just wondering where people change their babies' nappies when at other people's houses? I never know where to go.

At most people's I just do it in the room we're in but at less well known people's houses I wonder if I should go to their bathroom?

I ask where they would like me to do it.

wingcommandergallic · 12/10/2014 17:35

I'd ask as well.

Ask.

I think it depends if it's poo or wee as well....I've never asked I've just done it in the same roomBlush maybe I will next time. Having said that, if it's a house with kids they generallyy don't mind, I probably would ask in houses with no kids (which we don't go to very often)

My friends have always asked me and I have always said they could do it in the living room as I never had a problem with it.

rockybalboa · 13/10/2014 12:50

Bathroom. I find it odd when people change a stinking nappy on the living room floor!

eurochick · 13/10/2014 12:52

I ask. As do visiting friends. I'd be horrified if they went to change a pooey nappy on my 100%wool cream living room carpet! Bi wouldn't do it myself v

Notso · 13/10/2014 12:59

I always ask. BIL, SIL and my friends all change in my front room when visiting, I find it quite minging. Although they think I am odd for taking DC upstairs to change.

PenguinsIsSleepDeprived · 13/10/2014 13:02

Ask!

BackforGood · 13/10/2014 13:05

Bathroom - very rude to start changing a nappy in the living room or kitchen, IMO. If you ask where the bathroom is / start heading there and they prefer you stay in the room, then they will say so then.

Surely you'd be wanting to dispose of the nappy / wash hands etc so you'd be moving anyway?

BauerTime · 13/10/2014 13:08

Depends on where I am and the floor covering tbh. I dont have a problem with doing it in the living room per se, but I wouldn't do it on a cream carpet.

In an ideal world you would take them to the bathroom but that's not always practical due to space or a particularly hard, cold floor.

I'm always more mindful though if I'm in a childfree home, especially if they aren't particularly enamoured of children.

DanyStormborn · 15/10/2014 22:32

I use the bathroom.
