Looking for some advice, not a pleasant topic, but really need help. my daughter is 6 and she breaks wind a lot, but it is not loud ever, its silent, and she smells really bad!
I am worried because when she is sitting beside me when she does it, it is a vile smell, i am scared her class mates may notice it etc.
her diet is pretty average and she doesnt complain of any tummy ache etc.
has anyone any ideas on what i can do?

Thanks ,

You can take charcoal tablets which helps. I think increasing fiber helps so more veggies, fruits and proper whole grain stuff like oats might help too.

Thank you Haz, i never knew about charcoal tabs, will look into them.
she eats a lot of fruit, she also has cereal, yogurts, goody bars. for dinner she eats chicken, potatoes, fish etc, i think her diet is pretty good, the only thing my husband and I can think of right now (tonight she was particularly smelly) is that we only have wholemeal bread? maybe if we change her to white bread it may help?

It could be the fruit. Or the goody bars whatever they are. What veg does she eat,?

It could be bread full stop!

They can be great. Be warned they make your poo black apparently. I have a close relationship with my best friend close enough to know she takes charcoal tablets but not to look at her poo. I just take her word for it that it goes black.
Id stick with wholemeal bread or no bread and look at fibrous food like veggies to move things along quicker so it;s not sitting in her gut.

Does she eat dried fruit? They can be preserved with sulphur which makes farts smell of, well, sulphur.

I don't think a good diet = no wind. Mine is worse the more fruit and veg I eat.
She has to learn how to control it and that doing it in class isn't appropriate. Not sure what age they learn to control it so 6 might be too young.

if she had lots of fruit that may give her wind.

Definitley stick with wholemeal bread as it has fibre, and mix more veggies in.

If she has loose stools or diarrhea it could be she has some sort of intolerance?

Having said that, my ds is a stinker, healthy diet, no intolerances, he just has very smelly farts. It is a bit of a family joke. Aged about 10 I did notice that he choose not o do it in public so much
