DD might - or might not- have chickenpox. Do I keep her in?

DD goes to a pre school on Fridays. One of the other children has developed chickenpox this week (there are only 5 children so they're all in close contact).

DD has had a high temperature on and off this week (she is also teething but hasn't generally had a temp before when teething) and been more tired than usual. No other symptoms, she is quite happy.

Should I act as if she has chickenpox - for example should she stay away from swimming this afternoon and pre school tomorrow? Or do I wait till the spots arrive (if they do)? On the one hand I feel like if she has it, surely she's infectious now. On the other hand, you can't keep them inside every time they have a temperature...

I'm fairly robust about illnesses but would always keep a child off nursery/school if they had temperature/rash/D&V.

Other activities would depend on how well they were in themselves. If unusually tired, I would probably scrub swimming (too active/tiring).

Can you find something else nice to do?
