Weaning, teething and dirty nappies...

Our son has just turned 6 months and we have been weaning a couple of weeks now. All going well on that front. In addition he has cut his first two teeth and we think the top two are coming through.

That aside the main reason for this post is that he has started to soil his nappy in the night and it generally comes over the top of the nappy, soaks his vest and sleeping bag and we are forever washing it, almost every day. Anyone else experiencing the same? Is it likely to be exacerbated by teething? Any good ideas anyone...

I think teething can cause runny nappies - something to do with all the extra saliva. We do double nappies at night time which helps.

Some people find that putting a waterproof wrap over the nappy helps to limit the damage Smile

Could you try offering solids just at breakfast for the time being? That way it might work through his system earlier.

We found night poos were a part of weaning, although not as explosive as yours sound!

I'm not sure if just weaning for breakfast would help or whether it's just something the body needs to get used to like newborns pooing at night and eventually managing not to.

I'd suggest getting a nappy wrap that usually go round reusable nappies as an extra layer in the meantime.

We found teething powders really helped with the runny nappies, stopped tummy being so upset. Think we used 'teetha' ones.

Our Ds went through a little phase of night time pooing when he was first weaned. It only lasted a week or so but he didn't cut any teeth in that time so not sure if that was related too. Teething causes EVERYTHING!!!
