10 month old has screamed for most of the day. She was up every 45 mins last night screaming. she's not slept since 5am so she's over tired.

I have given her calpol and nurofen, she's got snuffle babe on her chest and I've cleared her nose.

We've been for a 2 hour walk where a helpful old lady told me my baby was upset and asked if she was hungry. After I said she had just had a bottle she then gave her a boiled sweet which I took off dd as soon as the lady had gone.

I am going slightly insane from the constant screaming and nothing I am doing is helping DD in the slightest.

please tell me you have had days like this?

I'm sure everyone has had days like this, I certainly have. Do you have a DP/DH or someone else who can take her for a while so you can have a break?

MallowsMiaow · 28/09/2014 16:06

All the time, DD is well known for screaming non stop from around 6pm to after midnight most nights. Sometimes she doesn't wait until 6pm to start.

It's exhausting.

It'll get better eventually - I hope..

dp is at work then a leaving meal so wont be home till late. He has to at least show his face even if he doesn't stay for the meal but it's then a 40 min walk home because he couldnt drive to work this morning due to road closures. If I asked him to come home the earliest he could be back is 8pm.

Have definitely had those sorts of days, you have my sympathy.

Can you take her for a drive in the car and hope she nods off? Or another walk? - sorry, you probably don't feel like it but I always found the screaming was diluted a bit by not being indoors.

Or v early bath and bed for her and a glass of wine/bar of chocolate for you?

It feels like such a never ending nightmare at the time, but I promise one day you won't even remember today. Good luck.

EmbarrassedPossessed · 28/09/2014 16:15

Ah, that is difficult. My DP also had to do long days like this when I was on maternity leave, and I well remember the waiting and waiting for him to come home.

Does your DD like having a bath? Or go out for another walk if the weather is still ok, just to get out of the house. She may fall asleep in the pushchair, you never know. Do you have any local friends you could drop in on if you explain the situation you're in today?

tuckingfablet · 28/09/2014 16:18

I don't drive and we just got back from our walk.
she seems to have calmed down slightly but I think it'll be an early bath and bed for her tonight. fingers crossed she doesn't wake up screaming all night again.

I would make a bottle of warm milk, cup of tea for you and go and snuggle in your bed and hopefully she'll fall asleep

BrieAndChilli · 28/09/2014 16:21

Ds2 would be like this when he had an ear infection and it was about to burst. Nothin would help with the pain. Had grommets this year so hoping for a peaceful winter!!

MexicanSpringtime · 28/09/2014 18:47

I was wondering about an ear infection, myself

tuckingfablet · 28/09/2014 19:23

well I did an early bath and bed at 5.30 and she went straight to sleep, hasn't woken since thankfully.

Oh fantastic. Hope you've been able to rest and relax a bit. Brew
