I found that the best thing was to tie up nappy in biodegradable Nature Babycare nappy bag and put straight in to main trash. The refills thingies for the clever nappy bins cost a fortune and are a real waste of plastic.

I think it's for washables?

I'm expecting no. 2 in the new year, so interested to hear about this, too.

Yes sorry I'm asking about reusable nappies. What's a kangabag? How do you find the tots bots bin?

thank you, that looks interesting!

sorry, i wasn't clear, i have found the tots bots myself, what i meant was what are your experiences of the tots bots bin in terms of how good the lock bit works? thanks

The clips are stiff when you first buy the pail but they do get easier to open over time. DD1 (24 months) has figured out how they open. She has never managed to open all 4 though. She isn't yet able to open the circular zip on the Kangabag.

We use Karrimor dry bags.

They're about £5 from sportsdirect , the top rolls and clips shut so no chance of any little fingers opening it, it seals smells in, can be hung out the way (ours is on a poundland over door hook) and best of all you can chuck it in the machine with nappies rather than cleaning out a bucket!

lighteningmcmama · 07/10/2014 17:00

I have seen those, how many nappies do you fit in? Thanks

I have the green one for at home (25l?) And it fits roughly 15 nappies, we use Motherease onesize and an orange one (5l?) For out and about which fits about 4 nappies.

squtternutbaush my karrimor dry bags arrived today, very happy with them, thanks for the tip! I just wanted to ask, it doesn't come with any washing instructions, so i just wanted to check that it can definitely take repeated washings in the machine? also i use eco wash balls, do you think they would be OK with it? i always take the balls out before i do the spin. thanks!

I've been using mine for 17 months and chuck them in every 2nd nappy wash (once a week) and they're fine.

Not sure about the eco balls but I can't see why there'd be an issue :)

lighteningmcmama · 21/10/2014 23:03

thanks that's brilliant, they sound like they're pretty sturdy then! i'm amazed that this is not known about as much over here on MN as it just makes so much sense! a quick google showed that the mamas over on babycentre forums seem to know a fair amount about the karrimor dry bags, but ive never heard of it, or any PUL liner, mentioned over here on MN...

Lighteningmcmamma- what size bags did you get? These seem like a great option for storing wet smelly nappies without getting a bucket thing. x

lighteningmcmama · 26/10/2014 16:22

I think it's 25l, it's the teal one. Bought it from Amazon via the field and trek store on there.

I've been using it on off for a week or so (only because I've been battling with nappy leaksConfused) and honestly it's so much easier than a mesh bag in a bucket!!
