Nosey Nieghbours... Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated

I am a young mum, living with a fiance and 5yr old DS in our newly rented house. (DP works, now DS is at school im thinking about a job) Toward the end of the school hols DS was bored, i was stressed, and needless to say our house was not exactly its normally quite peaceful state. Just as the new school term had started i recieved a posted letter from 'Anon' stating that i was an 'evil person, my DS needed pretecting, he never gets love or cuddles, they were chilled to the bone to hear [my] bellowing as they walked past my house, glad he is back at school away from his prison' and lots more besides! I Wont bore you with all the details, but it was pretty soul-destroying stuff. (Also Threatened me with NSPCC.) Now i have to admit,when i shout i am quite vocal, but im not THAT bad!
The thing is, this has led me to spending most of my time feeling watched, paranoid, in fear of the postie and worst is every time i need to tell DS off, or correct his behaviour i feel like im this 'evil woman that doesnt deserve such a lovely boy'

Keep the letter, and if you get anymore, report them.

Bring it around to your local police station, just so that they have a record of it. This type of letter is written by some bitter fool who has never managed a child. Police and then forget about it. Poor you.

Reporting the letter sounds wise. Sounds like a mad person, tbh.

What a horrible thing to do! I would also report it. [Dread to think what they'd say if they walked past my house sometimes!]

How unpleasant for you. Definitely keep the letter. Dont know what else to say. You've just got to go on as normal, confident in the knowledge that whoever wrote the note doesn't know what they are talking about. How can they possibly think they know the ins and outs of your family dynamics just from walking past your house!?

How horrible for you! I would also do as others have suggested and report the letter.

(Obviously, someone walking by a house can get a real assessment of someone's parenting, because you can hear shouting that way, but also any love and cuddles. Obviously. )

thank you! i thought i might of been going insane.. a few family members have said the same, but i just think i needed to hear it from impartial lips. Its been playing on my mind for weeks. Im not normally one for being influenced by what people think of me if they dont actually know what goes on in my house, but this was so OTT that it had a lot of effect. Thank you for your thoughts

I have had the same from a neighbour that lives below us. I have 3 ds the older 2 are 11 and 12. Ive had big big rows with them and shes often come and knocked on the door or knocked on her ceiling with a broom. When my ds3 was tiny I went out for the evening and left dh in charge of him. When I retturned home he was swearing under his breath'by womand should mind her own f*ng business etc. Aparantly ds3 had been crying quite a bit and she came up and asked in a very accusing tone 'do you need any halp with your baby?'. I think he told her where to go.
So yes I know how degraded you can feel.
