Double buggy for 2yo and newborn - HELP!

We found out last week that I am pregnant with number 2, due the day before our LOs 2nd birthday (please be a bit early or late!!) We are beyond chuffed but my head is already spinning with a million things, the main one being the buggy situation.

Our 16mo isn't quite walking yet so I am pretty sure he will still be reliant on the pram aged 2. He is big though - already 85cm tall and 28lb and most of the double buggy reviews for the slightly smaller / sleeker models comment on it being a bit of a squeeze with toddlers.

I would prefer something that isn't too wide for obvious reasons but also really want to be able to clip the car seat in as I found this invaluable last time. Love the iCandy style option (in that it's not side by side but doesn't have the newborn practically on the floor and at the back) but was concerned about the size issue for my biggish boy.

Wondered if anyone had any experience, recommendations or ones to avoid please? We do have some savings so cost isn't the main factor, especially if we sell our Maxi Cosi Elea and buy second hand. If we don't have to spend a fortune that would be fab of course, but the priority is getting one that works for us as a family the best.

TIA Smile

i went for a tandem much easier then side by side you want something easy to get around and if you rely on the bus or walk then you need a easy buggy

I've got 2.7 years between my two and opted for the oyster max as ds was still a lazy toddler and napped in his pushchair. Dd is now 5 months and will only just now fall asleep in the buggy, occasionally. The option for car seat was useful, but not essential in hindsight as she usually woke on transfer and then wouldn't want to be in it.

It's a lovely large seat on top and my now three year old is happy in either. I also wasn't keen on doubles where the baby had restricted view-and in my case that was well founded as she's a nosy bugger and would've hated it! We had the carrycot which was great if short lived; she's been in the seat unit since 4 months and loves the space.

It really depends on your baby in my opinion: if you can, I'd wait until it's born and decide then. Ds hated slings, whilst this baby loved being carried and would only sleep in one. I often end up pushing an empty buggy! But when a double has been useful, it's been VERY useful. Think containment of older child :) its also a lovely single, and with ds at nursery its nice to not have to push a double unnecessarily.

We'll sell ours once dd is old enough for the stroller, and hopefully it will have retained a decent value.

Hope that essay helped!

DD2 is 5 weeks and DD1 is 24 months. We didn't bother with a double. We got a buggy board for our existing pram and a good sling.

My dd is 2.5 and ds is a week old. I have the out n about nipper double and it is fantastic. I walk a lot, everywhere so would be lost without it. It says it's suitable until aged 4 but I'm not sure i believe that, Dd looks huge in it.

It's soooo easy to push, it just glides. Quality is superb.

I should say, it wouldn't be suitable for shops or public transport etc due to width IMO.

When ds2 was born ds1 was 20 months and not walking. He didn't walk until 23 months. We bought the britax b agile side by side double and it's brilliant. Not found a door it doesn't fit through and still use it now every day. Ds is now 2.8 and 10 months.

i have the candy doubly buggy and im happy with it. My daughter is 2.5 and son is 11 months...so it was an absolute must for me!! I was very happy with it, especially bc I could convert it to single if I wanted to (we kept our daughter in nursery full time the first several months). My daughter still fits fine in the buggy, but she starting to look a little big in it...which is fine...she still fits comfortably and likes to walk some of the time and by the time she grows out, she will be walking all the time anyway. Only thing I am annoyed about is you have to buy the seat liners (sold separately and like 50 quid each!) bc the zippers on the icandy seat have snagged a few of my childrens nice sweaters! Quite annoying that you have to buy separately!
