toddler bed or crash mat in front of the cot?

help!!!

I think I need to move dd into a toddler bed as she has managed to climb up the cot bars today and fall over the top. it is already at the lowest setting and we have had to lock off the drop sides as she learnt how to open them.

she is only 13 months - what do I do to keep her safe?

Toddler bed, or mattress on the floor. A crash mat won't protect her.

A grobag can discourage climbing, though. Worth a try, now the nights are getting cooler.

I wish the grobag did deter her! unfortunately she sees it as a challenge - she was wearing one for her nap but had taken it off.

she has been known to take her nappy off if she decides she doesn't want it on

toddler bed with a bed guard leaving a tiny space at the bottom for her to get out of (so she doesn't climb) baby gate on the door if you have stairs if not kitchen gate is fine. I used to close all the doors at night but our room and had a little lock on the outside of the bathroom door --because i'm paranoid). She will likely just shout for you DS didn't start getting out of bed until closer to 2 he spent 6 months just shouting me at night.

I think we are going to go with a toddler bed the only issue is how dp we stop her climbing her sisters step ladder up to her mid sleeper - it's fine when dsd is at her mum's as the cot top changer fits perfectly but when she is here then she needs to be able to get in and out of bed

I have heard of people padlocking a grobag onto little escape artists.... Just a small padlock to link the zips together, nothing cruel or painful!

Travel grobag (one with zip down the front rather than the ones with poppers on the shoulders), zipped downwards, or failing that put on backwards worked for us. Sorry if you've already tried that though.

I have climbers. Bed ASAP and rules about stating in it Wink

She is only 13 months so hard to have rules about staying in it as she doesn't have the language or understanding unfortunately.

Bed
Make whole room toddler safe
Put stair gate across door so she can't wander off and do something unsupervised/daft when you are asleep.

we have a stairgate at the top of the stairs so she cannot get to any harm if she does get out, unfortunately her sister has toilet issues so the stairgate on the door isn't an option but we may have to make a decision over whether to try and split the big room and put both dsc's in it and put dd in her own room
