9mo dd soaking through nappy at night. Help!

My dd is 9mo and over the past couple of weeks, she has woken up soaking wet every morning without fail as her nappy hasn't managed to hold enough. She goes to bed with a fresh nappy on at 7pm and generally wakes up at around 7.30am, but now keeps waking up at 4 or 5am because of the wetness. As I have to change her at this time, she's then wide awake thinking its time to get up. She will soak through her vest, babygrow, sleeping bag and sheets and I have to change and wash them every morning which is a massive pain!

She still wakes through the night for milk, and has around 7oz at bedtime, then another two 7oz bottles through the night (sometimes she only has one). She has always had this amount or even more through the night and we haven't had this problem before. It's just started all of a sudden! I have tried offering water through the night to see if it makes a difference but she won't take it.

She's usually in size 4 nappies, but I've tried 4+ and size 5 which haven't made a difference.

Does anyone have a solution for this? I feel so bad for her waking up all uncomfortable every morning Sad

I could've written this a while ago. I tried everything suggested here to reduce milk intake at night but it didn't work... It's just developmental and one night at around10 months DS didn't wake up for a feed till 4/5 am and that was that, he dropped the night feeds. No amount of feeding/ changing bedtimes made a difference, he was just ready! If he's hungry, feed him. It won't be forever, even though it may feel like it at times. Re nappies, it helped to put on a vest (the ones with buttons between the legs) as it helped keep the nappy in place. Also, pampers baby dry are the best!

Sorry, dd not dsShock

Lucy that's good to hear. She used to wake up every hour through the night from 4 months until 8 months then one night just slept ages and only woke up once even though we didn't do anything different. She now wakes 2-3 times which is loads better than before. Babies are weird aren't they! Grin

I wouldn't bother trying reusable nappies, they are nowhere near as absorbable as a Pampers Baby Dry - and I say that as an ardent reusable nappy person! I still put my dd in a Pampers overnight as I could never find a reusable solution that held 12hrs worth of wee...

My dd still leaks through a Pampers though and so we've reduced the amount of water she's allowed to drink in the evening and I feel her nappy before I go to bed. If it's full, I change it but we're lucky and she rarely wakes up.

I have a 13 months who still wakes occasionally for milk of she is hungry and occasionally she is wet and has leaked through I find that it tends to be if she has been a fidget in the night as the nappy doesn't seem to stay put at the sides, can you try the plastic over knickers at night (like they used to out over terry nappies) to stop the leaking onto her skin maybe? or maybe try sleeping bags instead of blankets to stop her moving about as much?

as for water etc in the day I have tried everything but dd refused it until this week when I got her a nuby flexi straw beaker - she bloody loves it and has gone through 3 cups a day whereas before I was lucky to get half a Tommy tippee cup into her

Ive just solved this with my 20 month old, thanks to mumsnet.

I stick a normal size nappy on him and a pull-up over the top in a size bigger. 2 weeks in and no leaks.

Thanks for the help everyone. I changed her at 3am before her feed and she went off to sleep quite quickly. I am going to try giving her some supper before bed and may invest in some pull ups to go over her regular nappy. I'm glad there's a solution at least Smile
