best nappies for massive night wees?

My 21mo DS is gmahowing signs of wanting to be potty trained, but isn't quite there yet.

He's started doing massive wees instead of lots of little ones and can flood a nappy in one fell swoop.

I always used to use pampers baby dry but when he shot up and slimmed down they started to leak around the legs. Aldi nappies have always leaked in this way on him, they just don't seem to fit him.

I'm currently using Asda active fit but they're just not holding it and he's usually soaked through after an hour.

Any suggestions?

A correctly sized disposable with the next size disposable on top.

A correctly sized disposable with a nappy wrap on top (Blueberry/Motherease).

A bamboo nappy (Little Lambs or Tots Bots) with a nappy wrap on top (Blueberry/Motherease).

A bumble with 3-4 boosters in it - though maybe a bit late to invest in washables - maybe if you can bear it you could see if you could try some 2nd hand.

I don't know about at that she but DS is in Aldi nappies. Never leak. One morning he had weed so much that their where drops on him when I changed him as nappy was so full. No leaks though.

How about Dry Nites? They are more absorbent than nappies IME.

We double up too. I use a Pampers Baby dry underneath and a Tesco pull up over the too. In the morning the baby dry comes off and the pull up gets pulled back up and there is no wastage, no leakage.

I've had this recently, we're now using pampers active fit and the problem has stopped. I also went up a size from 4+ to 5 (he's 23mo).

Bambo disposables. Pricey, but v absorbent. You can get trial size packs too.

I was also going to suggest pampers active fit

MrsBungle · 10/09/2014 06:45

I've started using the morrisons ones as Aldi and asda started leaking and they are working well so far.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 10/09/2014 07:51

I've got some big pullups so ill try sticking one of those over the top and ill go back to pampers active fit. Luckily I've run out of nappies anyway.

I just find the right bloody nappies for him and he grows up or out and they start leaking again.

Thanks everyone.

Please try Boots active- never, ever had a leak. My baby is not the same age but its worth a go.

Also try getting him to do a wee in the potty or toilet before going to bed. DS used to do that at least 8 months before daytime potty training cos he wanted to copy us.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 10/09/2014 09:32

He always has a stand up wee in the bath (amuses him no end) and had one last night but was still soaked by 9:30.
