19 Week Old Has Gone Off Milk..Advice?

Hello All,

I have a 19 week old FF baby who for the last week or so has really gone off her milk.

I feed her every 3 1/2 to 4 hours x5 but she is really fussy about it and is making feeding times frustrating and a little miserable for both of us (crying, screaming and moving her head so she can't be fed)

Is this just a phase that we have to see through or could she be teething? She certainly is dribbling A LOT!

Has anyone else had a similar experience and if so, what did you do? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I had this too. My daughter just moved her head and was adamant she didn't want it. I tried some teething gel and a bit of calpol out of desperation and it helped. Not sure if she was teething or not but it helped. I got to the point where I'd try anything! Give it a go and see how you get on.

I think it's a phase. My DD (22 weeks) is EBF and two of my friends FF their babies of the same she and we've all just experienced a rocky patch which lasted a few weeks of erratic feeding- some days not interested, some days couldn't get enough and some days feeding heaps at night. It'll pass. Keep offering. Someone recently reminded me - she'll feed when she's hungry/thirsty

Hi,

Ive decided not to get too worked up about it as I was getting a little down.

So, we've decided to change tactic today and have a go at baby led feeding and not try and force milk down when she obviously doesn't want it.

Its just so frustrating as she was so good before!

Someone mentioned to me the concept of "wonder weeks" where babies go through a fussy period before they learn something new? I don't know how much of this I believe but it might explain it.

I'll keep telling myself that anyway!

I've had this exact same thing happen to my DD who is 17 weeks tomorrow. I've started putting Anbesol liquid on her gums before feeding which has helped a little but she is still not drinking as much as before. Also I read somewhere about trying to change the teat size too.
