Having a bad mummy day !

I am in my last 2 weeks of working before going off on maternity leave never to return again (HORAR!!!). I work from home as an Account Manager and for these last 2 weeks I have agreed to take on extra work, going from 2.5 days to 4.5 days to cover a short campaign we have taken on.
MIL usually helps out with DD, she takes her out for the whole day one of the days and then looks after her at home for the other full day - however, MIL is on holiday this week and next which means DD is stuck at home with me for this week and next.

She was so good all day Monday & yesterday, didn't cause me to stray away from my work, she watched Nick Junior and some of her DVD's, done some colouring, read books (well looked at), done some sticking etc - she also has a long lunch time sleep - usually around 1.5-2hours.

She hasn't stopped asking me today to take her to the park or to play outside or to read her books and i feel so terrible saying i can't because I am working - she is only 2.2 so doesn't really understand.
I know it's only for 2 weeks and isn't going to do her any harm I just feel terrible.
At least when I'm on maternity leave I've got 7 weeks to spend with her before baby arrives.

She has just walked downstairs now with her VTech laptop - sat on the stairs next to where i'm sat and said "I do work like you mummy"

Bless her.

Could you buy her a new toy to amuse herself for a while.

normalflora · 20/09/2006 15:34

Ahhh, sounds like she is giving you the sympathy . And I am sending you a hug too

Can you work a bit in the evening after she has gone to bed in exchange for an hour during the day with her in the park?

FoghornLeghorn · 20/09/2006 15:34

The only time I have off this week is Friday afternoon. I will take her and get her something nice then though.

I am in total amazement at how good your DD is - mine don't let me do anything for even 10 minutes!!

FoghornLeghorn · 20/09/2006 15:35

Can't unfortauntely because it is telephone based work and no-one is around after 5.30. I only work until 5 so may take half hour to play with her now then carry on working through to 5.30

That sounds like a peachy idea.

Have to agree with jazzi, your dd sounds amazing to be relatively content to do her own thing while you are working.

Have a great 30 mins!!

DH is home now so is keeping her entertained
She is a very good girl - she defo deserves a treat.
