coping with a toddler and a newborn, or not!

When your newborn has been awake since around 1am, you finally settle her at 6.30am but then think there is absolutely no point going to sleep as your 3 year old will be getting up any minute. Aaarrrggghh

Ok so its more of a whinge than actually needing advice! Is anyone with me? x

I'm not now. But a few years ago I was!

Get on the sofa with a blanket, your toddler and cbeebies! It is the only way

Oh yes this was me just a few months ago!

Suggest a DVD it tv, supply your 3 year old with milk/juice and plenty of snacks and both of you snuggle up on the couch - you can doze Grin

StarMeKitten · 17/08/2014 07:03

DH is ill which isn't helping so he's not much use atm. To make matters worse MIL is coming round at 9am so no PJ day for us!

Been there. We take it in turns to bring one or both downstairs so the other can sleep in. Everyday is a milkshake morning here

StarMeKitten · 17/08/2014 07:09

3 year old is up so DH has taken her downstairs. Is it just me or does anyone else feel guilty about watching too much TV? We never used to watch all that much but since DD2 has arrived cbeebies is my saviour!

It's only for a short time then things get easier so don't worry about the tv.

Outflewtheweb · 18/08/2014 13:27

Five week old and a two year old here. Am on my knees! Didn't see this being so hard, but, wow.

weeblueberry · 18/08/2014 15:38

I know this all happened yesterday so not much help now but in those circumstances I'd be tempted to send toddler (possibly even baby too!) out with MIL for the day in order to get a sleep for a few hours!

Don't stress about the TV - she will almost certainly be watching the same amount of TV as most kids her age. It will do her no damage but save your sanity ten fold...
