4mo DD hates carry cot- switch to pushchair?

DD is nearly 4 months (15 weeks) and she absolutely hates being in the pram carry cot. She didn't mind it so much when she was a newborn but for a good couple of months now she has had such an aversion to it. In fact, I hasn't used it for about three weeks and now just tend to take her out in front carrier but she's getting heavier plus that means I have to carry change bag, shopping etc plus DD.

Today I walked to shops, around shops and home from shops and she screamed non-stop apart from a 45 minute nap which I took her out, fed her and rocked her to sleep. She is not particularly large so it isn't that she's hitting the sides, I always make sure she's been fed and has burped and has clean nappy, have tried blanket and no blanket, tried propping up with a cushion, tried pram hood in all three positions, toys dangling down from above or in pram with her, dummy (spits it out), pram apron zipped open for more space to kick or zipped closed to feel more cosy...

She stops crying as soon as I pick her up and even smiles at me, then starts screaming again the second I put her down. She doesn't cry when lying flat at other times such as on mat on the floor or even when I took her screaming out of pram and lay her flat on changing unit in the toilets at the shops today.

I have the push char unit for the chassis and I'm wondering if the only solution is to change to that now. I am disappointed as I wanted her lying flat until 6 months and to get use of the carry cot but I can't go on like this! I think she will like being more uptight/tilted up and being able to see around more (I hope!! If I put her in push chair and she screams then I won't know what to do next...!!)

Does anyone have any advice/ experiences re: changing to the push chair unit at 4 months? Or anything else I could try with the carry cot?

TIA

Both mine were in the pushchair by 3/4 months, mainly because they wanted to see what was going on around them. Most babies get plenty of time lying flat away from car seats and pushchairs.

you could put a folded towel under the top of the matress so she is propped up a bit. Or use the push chair seat, but part way reclined so she isn't slumping, which would be uncomfortable (and I always think it looks like they can't breath, which is probably not the case at all).

my dd was the same
switched her to a pushchair and suddenly she was happy and smiling, I did it at 9 weeks

My little one was exactly the same and I gave in and switched the the push chair attachment at around 4 months when she had pretty good neck control, keep it relatively reclined and watch out for them tiring and I felt it was fine. My buggy (uppa baby) had an insert that you could add so the seat wasn't so deep and one of the horse shoe shaped head support things so she didn't look quite so little. She was much happier when she could see out.

Thanks for the replies. I believe the push chair unit reclines at different angles so hopefully will be able to set it so she's suitably "upright" to please her but not so much that she's slumping. Have it stored in my parents garage at the moment, going to get them to bring it up on Monday and give it a try!

That's what I did at a similar age with both my DC. If it works for you, then go for it.

My 4 month old has been in the pushchair unit for a couple of weeks now (not constantly, obviously!) as she too hated the carrycot. But she also hated sleeping anywhere other than the sling, and that hasn't changed. She does seem to like being able to look around a bit more and it's almost flat so I'm not too worried. I don't mind carrying her but it's nice to have somewhere to put her and all my crap when she wakes up! I still haven't reached the holy grail of her falling asleep in the pushchair...I'm ever hopeful though.

I've used this for my 4 month old DD.

I have a babyjogger and have used it flat with this inset since birth (didn't bother with carry cot).

She's getting nosy now so I use it for extra support with pushchair sat up a little so she can have a nose when we're walking.

IMO all normal, awake babies hate the carry cot. I'd hate to be stuck in the carrycot when there is so much to see in the world.

Big that aged they are desperate to see the world
