Best nappies and wipes? Creams and bath products?

What are the best to buy?

I've heard great things about ALDI products- but we shop online from Tesco and don't live near a ALDI so not really feesable for us because what we save on the others we would end up spending travelling to buy from ALDI!

So what should we use? I want something thats suitable to use from newborn- just think life is going to busy enough without the faff of cotton wool and water.

And nappy cream and bath products? What bath stuff do I need?

We never even considered cloth nappies before my son was born but now we really love them. So sturdy and rarely leak. Save us a fortune too. We use cloth wipes, baby wipes are rubbish for getting poo off I've found. Sudocreme here too. We don't actually use any bath products, water gets him plenty clean.

Not sure if that was particularly helpful.

Cheeky Wipes. Love them and we have saved so much money. We use bamboo on bottoms and microfibre on faces.

Aldi/Tesco/ASDA all much of a muchness for nappies/wipes IMO.

Ditto shampoo/bubble bath (didn't bother with either for first few months, water alone was sufficient in the bath)

Sudocrem in case of nappy rash (not used at every change - a big pot lasted us until DD was 3.5 and DS was 1.5 - just one pot between them, not each!)

That was it. No oil/lotion.

sososotired · 14/08/2014 19:57

We are Huggies nappies and wipes, leak something chronic in pampers!
We didn't use anything until DS was 6 months now he has johnsons and johnsons bedtime bath we like bubbles ;) DS still has very little hair so still no shampoo!
We use Vaseline with every nappy change just to protect his little bottom!

We use cloth nappies and wipes.

Water is fine for babies, bath products are not necessary. Once ours turned one we started using Weleda Calendula body wash & shampoo. We also use the face cream on them in winter.

Nappy rash is rare but when they do have it we use Metanium, really good stuff.

Stars66 · 14/08/2014 22:14

I use pampers, dd is in pull ups now but has gone through the baby ones and active fit which have always done the job with very few leaks.
I use pampers sensitive wipes from asda, £10 for 12 packets, bargain. But I did use cotton wool and water for the first 3 months PFBShock
Use sudocrem or metanium nappy rash cream when she has a sore bum.
Don't put anything in bath.

Artandco · 14/08/2014 22:22

Used cloth and cheeky wipes here also

The water wipes are good disposable ones I recommend for baby when born/ in hospital as basically water so very delicate yet throwable also. We used these the first few days plus when travelling

I use aldi nappies, but tried a few different ones before I decided I liked them best. I used asda little angels ones for ages. Didn't like pampers at all.

I used water wipes at newborn as I can't touch cotton wool then huggies pure, get them delivered in big boxes from amazon as it works out cheaper and if we get dc2 I would try and continue with these rather than going back to water wipes as they are dear.

I have sudacream and Vaseline but don't use either very much, much to my mils horror as she seems to think her precious grandchild should be slathered in cream at all times. She's never changed a nappy so it's never happens. Also I think the effect the absorbency of the nappy. Have tried cloth coola baby ones, but they were soaked after an hour, but now no milk in the day might try them again.

Littlebean13 · 14/08/2014 22:33

I use pampers wipes and nappies.
I didn't use any bath products on ds until he was around 7 months old. Like pp have said water is absolutely fine to wash them with for the first few months.
We also have sudocreme but we rarely use it as ds, thankfully, doesn't get a sore bum much.
When I was pregnant I bought lots of different branded wipes and nappies and I worked out from that which products I like and which I didn't. I just bought one pack of wipes from every brand and the same for nappies so I could test them all. If your thinking about doing that my tip would be to wait for the supermarkets to have baby sales as the nappies are usually on offer then.

Mrsgrumble · 14/08/2014 22:36

Boots own band nappies are far superior to my other (IMO) never leak

Wipes - loved water wipes for first couple of months, now use boots sensitive or any on offer

Don't bother with bottom cream love caldascene powder and burst bees talc (though don't buy it much)

Mrsgrumble · 14/08/2014 22:38

Use Johnson wash (yellow one) in the bath

NorahBone · 15/08/2014 20:09

Another plug for reusable nappies and wipes Wink.
I now use Supermarket brand extra-sensitive shampoo and because bubble bath aggrivated his dry scalp I use baby soap instead (it doesn't get in his hair when I rinse the shampoo out). I do have to tell him off for eating the soap though, it has honey in it and he isn't allowed that yet.

Lovelise · 16/08/2014 11:38

I use as many un-scented products as possible. I would recommend you stay clear of Johnsons products (especially the bath time stuff) as its extremely perfumed - up to you obvs.

Aveeno products are good albeit a bit expensive.

I use Pampers (i like the yellow wee line) and water wipes or sensitive wipes. We used Boots own nappies for a while but found that they leaked.

I've heard good things about the Morrisons nappy range.

As for nappy cream...Bepanthen all the way!

GobblersKnob · 16/08/2014 11:44

Washable nappies and wipes, Bepanthen for nappy rash. Water only for bathing until weaned. (Dd only had three baths from birth to four months, and two if then were in the birth centre Wink she hated them).
