Okay so I'm new.

I have no idea what to buy/where to buy them! I have 9lb+ babies.

I want to start buying straight away so its all ready for when baby arrives.

So what do I buy/need?

Links would be great. I like all the pretty ones! Think I prefer the all in ones with a liner. But is it easy to make them up? X

Hello! I loved using cloth naps on my DS who's now ten - so my advice won't be very up-to-date, but I'm happy to share. I used two different Motherease nappies, Sandies and Onesize, and boosters added as DS got bigger and widdlier. I used Airflow wraps - I didn't like the Rikki wrap so much because the velcro used to catch on other things. Have you looked at the Nappy Lady website?

Start by looking for a local cloth nappy group. Contact your local authority's recycling department and see what they offer. Go to The Nappy Lady's website and fill in her questionnaire. This will also give you a discount code that'll last a year. Join the preloved cloth nappy groups on Facebook.

Avoid buying a 'system' until you are really sure what suits you and what fits your baby.

We hired the LA's nappy kit (£10 for 3 weeks). It had most common brands to try. I started by aiming to use one a day. I quickly realised which type I liked (Birth-to-potty pocket nappies). After we returned the kit, I bought a few different brands of that type. I loved the Tots Bots prints but they didn't fit well in DD so we ended up buying mostly BumGenius.

We didn't attempt night nappies for months and stuck to disposables. Eventually, we went for a 2 part system of Little Lambs bamboo paired with Motherease and Blueberry wraps.

Real Nappy Week is in April and there are lots of discounts then. Have a look at their website and then follow the supporting retailers either on Twitter or Facebook and you'll catch any bargains that come up.
