hello my boy, 2 yrs has allways been very good falling asleep independently at bedtime and at nap time. he has been like a clock, but only lately he has been having trouble falling asleep and has even been skippinghis veryimportant 12-2pm nap. He is not grumpy or unhappy, could this be that he will drop the nap out of his routine? I thoughtitis still quite early for that isn't it? Any ideas?

my 22 month old sometime skips hers - but I find that she is really unbearable about 6 if she does. The one way that I know that she will have her nap is if we have done lots of physical stuff in the mornings - swimming etc.

What is he like if he doesn't sleep?

Hi Bellie! The first 2 daythathe skipped his, were last friday and Thursday which arethe 2 days of the week that he goes to nursery. On thursdayhe fell asleep on our way back home for about 20 mins, and then he was fine, but having put him into bed athis usual bedtime hour it took him 1 hour and a half to fall asleep!!! I thought he wasreallytired and was going to fall asleep straight away, but he didn't. On Friday I stopped him from going to sleep on our wayback and he went to sleep a little earlier butnot as earlier as I expected... Both days he was fine, reallytired but not crancky..And today again, verytired, almostefell asleep in the pram, but now he is fine...playing around...

This sounds like my 18 month old! She doesn't always sleep during the day any more.

Sounds like your son is in the process of dropping the daytime nap. It varies from child to child as to when they stop needing the extra sleep.

My DD sleeps so much better at night now that she doesn't always sleep during the day. I am just going with the flow at the moment - sometimes she naps, sometimes she doesn't. I just try not to let her sleep after about 4pm, so that it doesn't affect bedtime.

That makes me feel so much better! I think I need to relax a little bit about this issue, I should'n comlaint becaus ehe is still a happy boy. Maybe sometimes the problem is just ours because we don't accept change too well and we would like them to be babies forever!! Last night we put him down to sleep at 6.40 pm and he woke up today at 6. 40 am. I took him this morning to the park adn right now he is in his cot sleeping like a little angel!!! I should use this precious time to study a little bit! Thanks for your reply!
