When you dropped the nighttime bottle....

This is a stupid question I'm sure.
Thinking of dropping the bottle at night for 16 month old as have another baby on the way.
Anyway, do they still need to have a load of milk before bed or do you just make sure they drink enough in the day?
I could offer him a sippy cup before bed but I'm not sure he's drink the same amount that he drinks from a bottle

My dd is 19mo and just had ds, dd until last week was still having 'baby bottles' in bed for her morning and nighttime milk (the only milk she has in a day)
We have now swapped to giving her the same amount of milk in one of those free flow tommee tippee beakers, seems to be fine.. She's not all that bothered?
Just give it a go and see what happens?

Just re-read your op, if your talking about stopping giving milk before bed altogether I think it depends how big a part of his routine that is.. If we stopped with dd she literally wouldn't go to sleep, it's the last thing she does every night and she stands by the fridge until we get the milk out!!
You would have to make sure he is still getting the right amount of milk, but it makes not a blind bit of difference when in the day he drinks it

My two dropped the bedtime bottle at 20 months (which was a struggle because she was still waking for bottles during the night and we were exhausted beyond reason) and about 12 months - DS had a bug at that age and refused the bottle for a couple of nights so we took advantage of that and never gave him another one. We didn't want the same mess again!

Once the bottles were gone, they had a cup of milk with their tea before bed. They also have a cup at breakfast, for a total of about 600ml, the rest of the day it's water. They usually finish the milk because they love it but if they don't I'm not that bothered.

It depends on the child and what they like.

My twins had morning and bedtime milk from bottles until 16 months. They had water in Oxo straw cups during the day. At 16 months I started giving morning and bedtime milk from the straw cups and neither batted an eyelid.

They are two next month and still have morning and bedtime milk.

First night went fine. Tonight not so well, he didn't have anything and screamed the house down. Going to continue but make an effort to up his daytime milk
